"I can't remember the timeline of when the Beyoncé track happened, the placement, but that definitely inspired me to want to experiment with just being a songwriter in the room. And I fell in love with it to the point where I thought I was just going to give up being the face of it and just be in the background because I just loved the process so much and just like collaborating with all these artists and these producers and just experimenting in ways I've never even thought. And yeah, that was really what it was, but it wasn't even really a break, I guess. I was still writing and I evolved so much more than if I would have just stayed in my room doing nothing like I usually do -- depressed."

“We are at the Philadelphia Zoo and it is a hot one today, but still a good day to come and visit. Our keepers are behaviorists and so they do what we call an enrichment program. Enrichment is part of all of our animals lives here at the zoo. Part of that enrichment comes in the form of ice treats. So, when it's really warm out on a day like today, we'll take part of their diet items and freeze them into ice blocks just to make it a little bit harder to work for. The animals in the wild, they have to work for their food, and we want their brains to stay happy and healthy. Here at the zoo. So, you see that in the forms of ice treats or puzzle feeders like you did with our goats and our otters.”

Extensive triple digit heat, broken temperature records and oppressive humidity piled up into a steaming mess as the heat dome crushing the Eastern half of the nation sizzled to what should be its worst Tuesday.

According to US National Weather Service, the temperature measure this afternoon at the Philadelphia International Airport has reached 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 Celsius) - the first time in 13 years.

As a sweltering heatwave blankets the city, staff at Philadelphia zoo are providing special summer treats and refreshing activities to help animals beat the heat.

Otters were treated to frozen "fishcicles," with fish placed inside frozen feeding balls. Staff says it’s fun and engaging way for them to enjoy a meal while cooling down. The goats got their special fruit pops while tortoises are finding respite from the intense sun under shady areas, with staff providing them with cooling mists of water.

Despite the warning of dangerously hot and humid weather, visitors remained determined to enjoy their day.

The current forecast shows that the intense ... [truncated]

ASSOCIATED PRESS

Los Angeles - 19 May 2025

1. SOUNDBITE (English) Adrian Quesada, recording artist:

"With "Boleros Psicodélicos II," I want to continue the tradition—the first volume began as a homage to one theme, one genre and one sound. In this second volume, I wanted to use more of my voice. Instead of creating another homage, I wanted to create an album that paid a bit of homage, but ultimately, showcases my voice and the voice of the artists that you hear on the album. I thought, 'What can I say through this music?' I wasn't trying to tap into an older genre. I was writing music that is applicable today with the older (bolero) influence in the back of my mind."

++SEPARATED BY WHITE FLASH++

2. SOUNDBITE (English) Adrian Quesada, recording artist:

"The reality is, I wanted to keep recording, but I had to turn something in so that the album could make deadline. If not, the first volume would never have been released. I finished the first volume and immediately started recording new ideas. There were also a lot of singers and artists I wanted to collaborate with and they were unable to be a part of the first volume. So, I kept recording and recording. The other thing is that when I finished the first volume -- I love it now and I loved it when it was released -- but sometimes, I listen to it and I keep thinking about what I could have refined and some things I wish I would've done differently. So, I began volume two — and the first one was created during the pandemic, so we never recorded together in the same room. No one came into the studio. Everything was done via email and WhatsApp and other things. But in this volume, I wanted to have those intimate moments with my collaborators. So, it was important that we got to have those moments with this second volume. "

3. SOUNDBITE (English) Adrian Quesada, recording artist:

"I decided to create the album in Spanish because—I'm going to answer in broken Spanish—as they say in English," It doesn't hit hard in English." It's something that would get lost in translation. These words wouldn't have the same impact in English. The Spanish language is so romantic and beautiful, so it had to be in Spanish."
