    STORYLINE:
Securing a coveted slot to exchange wedding rings on Amsterdam's usually traffic-choked ring road seemed like a good omen for Zuzanna Lisowska and Yuri Iozzelli's future life together.
“It just seemed like super fun idea," Lisowska said "And, you know, statistics weren't on our side, there were 400 couples who wanted to do it so we feel really lucky to have been chosen.”
Their only regret was not being able to bring their pet rabbit.
Friends and total strangers cheered and clapped as they said their 'I dos' on the part of the A10 highway, which surrounds Amsterdam, that was closed for a day-long festival.
As part of a day of festivities marking Amsterdam's 750th birthday, some parts of the highway became pedestrian only.
Lisowska, originally from Poland, and Italian-born Iozzelli were among 20 couples who were tying the knot on the closed ring road.
“It’s a nice party we didn’t have to organize,” said Iozzelli.
The city said that some 600,000 people tried to get access to the ring road last month when more than 200,000 free ticket... [truncated]

We're here at the Dolce & Gabbana runway show, where the designers create a collection that was a little bit formal and a little bit informal. There were crumpley pyjama tops and bottoms worn under double-breasted suits, sometimes paired with flaxen knitwear. The collection closed with a bunch of suits made out of pyjamas with beautiful beading, and sometimes finished with a pair of lovely cameo brooches. Furry slip-on shoes finish the looks. It's all about comfort, mixing it with formality. You can feel like you're going to the beach, but you can also be in the office."

    STORYLINE:
Dolce & Gabbana beckoned the warm weather with crumpled, take-me-anywhere comfort in their menswear collection for Spring-Summer 2026, previewed during Milan Fashion Week on Saturday.
The show opened and closed with a relaxed pajama silhouette — deliberately rumpled and effortless — in a clash of stripes, with both shorts and long trousers.
The Beethoven soundtrack belied designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s more deliberate intent, underscoring the designers' structured approach to soft tailoring.
A broad shoulder double-breasted suit jacket and tie worn with pink pinstriped PJ pants encapsulated the classic summer dilemma: work vs. pleasure.
Raw knitwear, or furry overcoats added texture. Boxers peeked out of waistbands, and big shirt cuffs out of jacket sleeves, challenging formal and casual codes.
Nothing was cleaner on the runway than a crisp striped pajama top in sky-blue and white stripes tucked into white leather Bermuda shorts _ good for work and for play.
The designers' finale featured pajama suits, shorts and pants, with beaded floral patterned embroidery for an evening seaside shimmer, worn with fuzzy sliders. Twin cameo brooches gave an antique accent.
The crowd outside got to share in the fun when the finale models took the looks onto the streets, taking a full lap outside the designers’ Metropol theater.
Front row guests included actors Zane Phillips, Theo James, Lucien Laviscount and Michele Morrone.

  • Luxury superyacht is partially resurfaced 10 months after sinking off Sicily
    (21 Jun 2025)

    3. Various of yellow floating crane barges where the hull of the sunk luxury superyacht is partially visible on the surface
    STORYLINE:
A British-flagged luxury superyacht that sank off Sicily last year, killing U.K. tech magnate Mike Lynch and six others, resurfaced Saturday as salvage recovery crews finalized the complex operation to bring it ashore for further investigation.
The white top and blue hull of the 56-meter (184-foot) Bayesian was visible on the surface but was not clear of the sea yet in a holding area of a yellow floating crane barge.
“Pumping out of sea water will continue and it will be lunchtime, following a series of lifting and resting procedures to satisfy the salvage team, before Bayesian is fully and finally out of the water,” said David Wilson, spokesman for TMC Maritime, which is conducting the recovery operation.
The local coast guard said the lifting operation is expected to be concluded by the early afternoon and will be followed by some technical tests on the hull. On Sunday, the vessel will be transported to the Sicilian port of Termini Imerese, where it will be made available for investigators to help determine the cause of the sinking.
The Bayesian sank Aug. 19 off Porticello, near Palermo, during a violent storm as Lynch was treating friends to a cruise to celebrate his acquittal two months earlier in the U.S. on fraud charges. Lynch, his daughter and five others died. Fifteen people survived, including the captain and all crew members except the chef.
Italian authorities are conducting a full criminal investigation.
TMC Maritime said the vessel has been slowly raised from the seabed, 50 meters (165-feet) down, over the past three days to allow the steel lifting straps, slings and harnesses to be secured under the keel.
Eight steel lifting straps are being used to support the hull upright and to form part of a steel wire lifting system that began raising the vessel out of the water Saturday. As it is lifted up, sea water is pumped out of the hull.
TMC Maritime said the vessel will be held upright, out of the water, for checks and preparations for its final journey.
The floating crane platform will then move the Bayesian to Termini Imerese, where a special steel cradle is waiting for it.
The Bayesian is missing its 72-meter (236-foot) mast, which was cut off and left on the seabed for future removal. The mast had to be detached to allow the hull to be brought to a nearly upright position that would allow the craft to be raised.
British investigators said in an interim report issued last month that the yacht was knocked over by “extreme wind” and couldn’t recover.

    2. SOUNDBITE (English) Noah Page, American citizen evacuated from Israel:
"Everything was just so unexpected. We knew when we came to Israel there was another conflict going on, but we never knew this was going to happen. So it was really unexpected. So when we went to the bomb, the bomb shelters, at first, I was a little scared. You see on the news, you see everything, but you never really expect it actually hits you when you're there."
    3. Young evacuees gathered in front of port entrance
    4. SOUNDBITE (English) Menucha Goldberg, evacuee from Israel:
"Kind of feel guilty leaving, like, your home when everything hard is happening. It kind of feels like you're abandoning your people. I think that's probably, like, the hardest part of everything. I would say that it's also really terrifying because, you know, that's like, that's our home. And we're not used to having to run to shelters and, you know, not getting sleep because of all these sirens. And it's just kind of a depressing state of mind to be in."
    5. Various of evacuees gathered in front of port entrance
    STORYLINE:
Young people gathered at the Limassol port in Cyprus and shared their experiences after being evacuated from Israel.
Many of them were on Birthright, a free ten-day heritage trip to Israel offered to young adults of Jewish heritage and a rite of passage for many non-Israeli Jews. Others were taking part in Birthright Onward programs, which provide internships and fellowships for young people of Jewish heritage.
Noah Page, an American citizen participating in one of Birthright's programs, said he never expected his experience to involve bomb shelters and evacuations. "You see on the news, you see everything, but you never really expect it, it actually hits you when you're there," he said. He added "So when we went to the bomb the bomb shelters, at first, I was a little scared."
Pe'er, a Canadian citizen who was doing an internship in Israel that was cut short, said to the Associated Press "I really saw what it means to be Israeli, what it means to run to shelters every few hours, to not be able to get a consistent night's sleep."
Menucha Goldberg was also doing an internship, and spoke about the guilt she felt about being evacuated, saying it felt "like you're abandoning your people." "I think that's probably the hardest part of everything," she added.
With so many flights delayed and Israel air spaces closed, these evacuations are taking place aboard cruise ships sailing from Israel.
Cyprus’ chief Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin told The Associated Press that approximately 6,500 Israelis were in Cyprus after being diverted to the east Mediterranean island, the closest European nation to Israel, or traveling there voluntarily in hopes of catching a flight or boat trip back to their country.

Spaniards were desperately trying to keep cool on Friday, as the country sizzled in temperatures as high as 39 degrees Celsius (102 Fahrenheit)
Southern regions recorded temperatures above seasonal averages, prompting health alerts and safety recommendations from authorities.
Intense heat can affecting daily life, especially for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and children.
Authorities advised against physical activity during the hours of most heat and to drink plenty of fluids.
In Madrid, locals and tourists did what they can to keep cool, with Spain's iconic fans in use.
Local authorities were in the process of installing awnings to create shade in a public square.
Experts link the rising frequency and intensity of these heatwaves to climate change, warning that such extreme weather events are becoming increasingly common across Southern Europe.

"What we are doing right now is the exercise of our legitimate right for self-defense against the act of aggression, which is done against us unprovoked and in a very brutal way."

    2. SOUNDBITE (English) Abbas Araghchi, Iranian Foreign Minister:
"Diplomacy can work. It worked in the past, and it can work in the future. But in order for us to come back to diplomacy, the aggression should be stopped. It is obvious I cannot go to negotiation with the United States when our people are under bombardment, under the support of the United States. We have come, unfortunately, to the conclusion that the United States has been in this aggression from the beginning. You know, they deny, they keep saying that they are not involving. But we have many indications that they have been involved from day one."

    3. SOUNDBITE (English) Abbas Araghchi, Iranian Foreign Minister:
"Unfortunately we have heard that the U.S. may join this aggression, that would be very unfortunate and I think that would be very, very dangerous for everybody."

    STORYLINE:
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says it would be “very, very dangerous for everyone” if the United States becomes actively involved in the war with Israel.
U.S. President Donald Trump is weighing American military involvement, which Araghchi said “would be very unfortunate.”
Araghchi was speaking to reporters in Istanbul on his way home from talks in Geneva, which failed to produce a diplomatic breakthrough.
As the talks ended, Araghchi said he was open to further dialogue but emphasized that Tehran had no interest in negotiating with the U.S. while Israel continued attacking.
