And now Trump wants to wage another war abroad to enact a U.S.-Israeli war against Iran, while the majority of Americans here, we know, are opposed to war or opposed to any U.S. Involvement with war in the Middle East. And actually demand for the U.S. to leave all the military bases that are lining the border of Iran. STORYLINE:
A candlelight vigil in remembrance of former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark Hortman, was held Wednesday evening on the steps of the State Capitol in St. Paul.
Hortman and her husband, Mark, were fatally shot in their home early Saturday morning by a man posing as a police officer in the Minneapolis suburb of Brooklyn Center.
Hortman had served as the top House Democratic leader since 2017, and six years as speaker, starting in 2019. Under a power-sharing deal after the 2024 election left the House tied, her title became speaker emerita and Republican Rep. Lisa Demuth became speaker.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and his wife, Gwen Walz, attended the vigil, joining mourners in singing “Amazing Grace,” holding candles, and leaving flowers at a makeshift memorial.
The man charged in federal and state court with killing them, Vance Boelter, is also accused of shooting another Democratic lawmaker, Sen. John Hoffman, and his wife, Yvette, at their home a few miles away in Champlin. They survived and are recovering. Boelter’s attorneys have declined to comment on the charges
The Hortmans were alumni of the University of Minnesota, which scheduled a midday memorial gathering on the Minneapolis campus. The university said the event was to offer space “to acknowledge our shared grief, honor those who serve in public life, and reaffirm our collective commitment to leadership grounded in compassion, dialogue, and democracy.”
Melissa Hortman earned a law degree from the university in 1995, while Mark Hortman earned an MBA there in 2011.
Vance Boelter, 57, faces federal murder and stalking charges related to the Hortmans' deaths.
Authorities say he also shot and wounded Sen. John Hoffman, a Democrat, and his wife, Yvette, at their home in a nearby neighborhood that same morning.
They also said he visited the homes of two other state legislators but did not encounter them, and officials in other states reported Monday that they were on his list of targets.

Manila, the capital of the Philippines, is home to a number of historic landmarks that reflect the nation's complicated cultural identity and revolutionary struggles.
One of the most prominent is the Rizal Monument, built in honor of Filipino nationalist José Rizal, who was executed by Spanish authorities in 1896 for the crime of rebellion.
Today, it is continuously guarded by members of the Philippine Marine Corps.
Nearby stands the Bonifacio Shrine, which includes the Katipunan Revolution Monument in Hero’s Park. Unveiled in 1998, the sculpture depicts the revolutionary leader Andres Bonifacio and commemorates his role in the fight against Spanish rule.
Manila’s Chinatown, located in the Binondo district, is said to be the oldest in the world. In 2023, Mayor Honey Lacuna marked the district’s 430th founding anniversary.

    STORYLINE:
Kite enthusiasts are descending upon the Danish island of Fanø, transforming the sky into a breathtaking display of soaring color.
Located on Denmark’s rugged west coast, where the North Sea meets the Atlantic, Fanø is famed for its wide, flat beaches and steady coastal winds — a natural stage for what has become the world’s largest kite-flying event.
Visitors are even allowed to drive directly onto the island’s 14-kilometer (8.7-mile) stretch of hard-packed sand.
“It started as something very small, not even official — just a few tourists flying kites. And now, forty years later, we are the largest kite-flyers’ gathering in the world,” said festival organizer Paul Therkelsen.
This year’s meeting carries special significance: 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of the festival.
To celebrate, organizers launched the initiative “Indonesia to Fanø”, inviting some of the most renowned Indonesian kite builders and flyers to participate in this year’s program and share their centuries-old traditions with the global kite community.
A 100-meter-long (328 feet) Indonesian kite was paraded through the cobbled streets of Nordby — a historic seafaring village dating back to the Viking Age.
With roots stretching to around the year 700 and a church from 1789, Nordby was once Denmark’s gateway to exotic trade.
During the festival, locals proudly showcase their traditional costumes and finely crafted fabrics, offering a glimpse into Fanø’s rich cultural heritage.

    STORYLINE:
Explosions were seen on the Gaza skyline in the early hours of Thursday as Israel continued to target the territory.
Israeli strikes across the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis killed 22 people, including two children, and injured 90 others since dawn Wednesday, according to records from Nasser Hospital, where the bodies were taken.
Eight were killed sheltering in tents and five others killed while trying to get aid, according to hospital records obtained by an AP contributor.
Dozens gathered at Nasser Hospital to mourn their loved ones placed in body bags, including Ahmed Abu Rizk, a boy who cried and screamed in disbelief at losing his father, who was fatally shot when they were getting aid at the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation aid distribution centre in Rafah.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said hospitals across the territory took in 144 bodies and treated 560 wounded people within a 24-hour period.
