    STORYLINE:
Hundreds of people who have left or are trying to reach Israel were stranded in Cyprus on Wednesday due to ongoing hostilities between Israel and Iran.
Initially, 2,400 passengers aboard Israel-bound flights were stranded in Cyprus after their aircrafts were abruptly diverted last week.
Since then, thousands more have traveled there in hopes of using Cyprus, the nearest European Union country, as a depot to find a flight or chartered boat that will take them back to their families in Israel.
People attempting to leave Israel have also reached Cyprus, hoping to catch flights from the East Mediterranean island after hostilities closed much of the airspace across the Middle East.
Carrie Best-Lary, originally from Florida, was evacuated from Israel and described how it felt during Iran's strikes.
“We saw missiles, we heard things, we heard sirens, we were out in public, we went to shelter the minute we got that notification. It's a very scary time,” she said.

"I understood there was a strike, but at that time I didn’t even pay attention to the house that was hit, because I very quickly went up to the second floor where I lived, to my apartment. I started pulling my suitcases very quickly, packing my things. At least some things, because I understood that maybe a strike was coming, and I needed to get ready fast. I was afraid something might collapse—the house, or something might fall, or something else might happen. I was afraid of that. I thought I needed to quickly grab my documents, papers, some important things and run."

I couldn’t understand how I survived and that caused a panic attack."

"Of course, it reminds me of the war (in Ukraine). I don’t even stop seeing dreams that I’m hiding somewhere, running from Shahed drones, bombs, and looking for shelter somewhere—and that’s why I think my psyche is already shaken. What do I feel? I feel terrified inside and outside. I feel terrified by the hopelessness. Do you understand? It’s very painful. Each time, you don’t know if you’ll survive or not. Or whether you’ll be in a situation where you won’t even be found. Every time there is stress, it is painful. That was the reason I left Ukraine. I thought it wouldn’t start here. I didn’t understand that it was possible here."

  • Smoke see rising in Gaza Strip as Israel battles Hamas in the territory

    STORYLINE:
Plumes of smoke were seen rising over the Gaza Strip on Wednesday.
Israel launched its campaign aiming to destroy Hamas after the group's Oct. 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel, in which militants killed around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took another 251 hostage.
The militants still hold 53 hostages, fewer than half of them alive, after most of the rest were released in ceasefire agreements or other deals.
Israel’s military campaign since October 2023 has killed over 55,300 Palestinians, more than half of them women and children, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
Its count doesn’t distinguish between civilians and combatants.
On Tuesday, at least 51 Palestinians were killed and more than 200 wounded in the Gaza Strip while waiting for U.N. and commercial trucks to enter the territory with desperately needed food, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry and a local hospital.
Palestinian witnesses told The Associated Press that Israeli forces carried out an airstrike on a nearby home before opening fire toward the crowd in the southern city of Khan Younis.
The Israeli military said soldiers had spotted a gathering near an aid truck that was stuck in Khan Younis, near where Israeli forces were operating.
The shooting did not appear to be related to a new Israeli- and U.S.-supported aid delivery network that rolled out last month and has been marred by controversy and violence.
The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian affairs, or OCHA, said the people killed were waiting for food rations arriving in U.N. convoys.
The dead and wounded were taken to the city's Nasser Hospital, which confirmed 51 people had been killed. Later Tuesday, medical charity MSF raised the death toll to 59, saying that another 200 had been wounded while trying to receive flour rations in Khan Younis.

This means that the museum will continue its activity, which is good news and allows to keep sort of what Pope Francis had started in the past. Now, the Pope will be having general audiences there. He will be saying mass at the Villanova Church and Parish there, and he will be speaking to faithful in the square. 7. Wide of ministers greeting each other after end of news conference
    STORYLINE:
Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said Wednesday that Europe must back stopping the war as a way to extend support for Israel.
"If they want to support Israel, they must support the cessation of war and support the drive to achieve a just peace," Safadi said.
The foreign minister comments came at a news conference with his German counterpart Johann Wadephul in Berlin on Wednesday.
Safadi also emphasized that the escalation between Iran and Israel must end, as further tensions will only hurt all countries in the region.
"War will not bring security and peace to anyone; it will only lead to further conflict in the region," he added.
Israeli warplanes pounded Iran's capital overnight and into Wednesday as Iran launched a small barrage of missiles at Israel with no reports of casualties.
On Friday, Israel launched a major attack with strikes in the Iranian capital of Tehran and elsewhere, killing senior military officials, nuclear scientists, and destroying critical infrastructure.
Iran has retaliated with hundreds of drones and missiles.
The dayslong attacks between the two bitter enemies have opened a new chapter in their turbulent recent history.
Many in the region fear a wider conflict as they watch waves of attacks across their skies every night.

"They (bacteria) envelop themselves in a sticky, gluey, matrix, which makes them quite resistant to - in a stream it could be amoeba - in our human body it's the immune system. But also it's a survival mechanism of biofilm. And so biofilms are much more tolerant to antibiotics. So if you have a biofilm on your medical device in your patient is extremely difficult to eradicate unless often you just have to remove the device, which means it's no longer working for the benefit of that patient. So it's a lifestyle bacteria adopts which is a survival lifestyle where they're living together in a sticky matrix, slimy community, if you like."
