    2. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Yurii Bondarchuk, 35, local resident:
"The air alert started as usual, then the drones started to fly around as they constantly do. At first I just listened to their sound, then I went to sleep when it calmed down. Then I heard a boom, shattered glass flew around. My windows face both sides of the house. On that side (where explosion happened) the balcony is totally wiped out, as well as the windows and the doors."

    5. Damage to apartment
    6. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Yurii Bondarchuk, 35, local resident:

    7. Firefighter walking down stairs
    8. Water gathered at one of the building entrances
    9. Various of people and emergency workers outside the building
    STORYLINE:
A number of people were injured in Ukraine’s capital early on Saturday as Russia launched a massive combined drone and missile attack.
Explosions were heard throughout Kyiv and many residents sought shelter in the underground subway stations.
Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said drone debris fell on a shopping mall and a residential building in the Obolon district of the capital.
He added that at least eight people had been injured, and that two of them needed hospitalisation.
Debris of intercepted missiles and drones also fell in at least four districts of the capital, according to the acting head of the Kyiv military administration.
Yurii Bondarchuk, local resident, described the air raid siren which "started as usual, then the drones started to fly around as they constantly do."
"Then I heard a boom, shattered glass flew around," he said.
As firefighters tried to extinguish the blazes, the buzzing noises of Shahed engines could be heard flying in the vicinity as air defences tried to intercept drones with machine gun fire and other weaponry.
The nighttime Russian attack came hours after Russia and Ukraine began a major prisoner exchange, in the first phase of an exchange that was agreed on by the two sides at a meeting in Istanbul last week.

    STORYLINE:
A group of villagers gathered at a coffee house are reminiscing in a language on the edge of extinction, one that partly traces its roots to the language Jesus Christ once spoke.
Among them is 64-year-old Antonis P. Skoullos, one of only 900 people in the world who speak Cypriot Maronite Arabic, or Sanna.
Today, his village of Kormakitis is the last bastion of a language once spoken by tens of thousands of people across dozens of villages in Cyprus.
The tongue, an offshoot of Syrian Arabic that has absorbed some Greek, has been passed from generation to generation in this windswept community.
Until less than two decades ago, there was no written script, or even an alphabet, since parents passed it on to their children in conversation.
And only a handful of people are trained to teach it.

Debris of intercepted missiles and drones also fell in at least four districts of the capital, according to the acting head of the Kyiv military administration.
He added that two fires had erupted in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv.

Guests from around the world arrived in Ecuador on Friday ahead of the inauguration of Daniel Noboa as president for a second term.
Among the first to arrive were Morocco's Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and the US health secretary Robert. F. Kennedy Jr.
According to Ecuador's Foreign Ministry, 74 countries and 19 international organizations are sending representatives to Saturday's ceremony.
Noboa won re-election by defeating leftist opposition candidate Luisa González by a margin of more than one million votes, according to electoral authorities.
He gained popularity for his crackdown on organized crime at a time when violence has soared, prompting him to declare that Ecuador was in an “internal armed conflict.”
The new term will allow the 37-year-old heir to a fortune built on the banana trade to continue some of his no-holds-barred crimefighting strategies that have tested the limits of laws and norms of governing.
