Aid drops are falling in the Mediterranean Sea, it's also falling in areas that Palestinians have been prevented by Israel from accessing. And aid groups also say there is a breakdown of law and order in Gaza that not only are starving unarmed Palestinians surrounding these trucks but they are seeing people with pistols as well as knives and guns loot the trucks. Truck drivers say they're being held at gunpoint. The entire truck is being looted including the batteries as well as the diesel. They say that this is basically survival of the fittest. Whoever is able to get to the aid first gets it. Aid groups say that the only way for this to change is for a consistent steady flow of aid to come into Gaza otherwise it's going to be very hard to make a difference."

International outcry over images of emaciated children and increasing reports of hunger-related deaths have pressured Israel to let more aid into the Gaza Strip.

This week, Israel paused fighting in parts of Gaza and airdropped food.

But aid groups and Palestinians say the changes have only been incremental and are not enough to reverse what food experts say is a “ worst-case scenario of famine” unfolding in the war-ravaged territory.

The new measures have brought an uptick in the number of aid trucks entering Gaza. But almost none of it reaches U.N. warehouses for distribution.

STORYLINE:

A group of demonstrators gathered on Friday in front of the U.S. General Consulate to protest the 50% tariffs imposed by Donald Trump on Brazilian exports.

Organized by unions and left-wing social movements, the protest voiced strong criticism of both Trump and Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro, while expressing support for President Lula and Brazil’s sovereignty.

Some protesters wore costumes resembling Trump and Bolsonaro depicted in signs as aligned with both leaders.

Banners also demanded that Bolsonaro’s trial for allegedly attempting a coup remain a priority.

Trump’s tariffs, set to take effect on August 6, exclude certain products like orange juice and aircraft parts.

While Lula says he remains open to negotiation with the U.S., he made it clear that Bolsonaro’s legal situation is not part of any deal.

Tens of thousands of young pilgrims from all over the world gathered in Rome for the Jubilee of Youth that the Catholic Church is celebrating over the weekend.

Ahead of Saturday and Sunday’s prayers, when they will assist to Pope Leo XIV celebrating the mass in a field in the outskirts of Rome, many came to the Circus Maximus to confess.

About 200 tents, used as makeshift confessionals, were set up in the archaeological area in the center of Italy’s capital.

Hundreds of priests are offering confession in ten different languages, the Vatican said.

19-year-old Celia Carbonell from Spain, said the event is a strong reminder of young people's place in the Catholic Church.

"Sometimes in my city when you go to church, people in there are very old, and here you can see everybody is very young," she said, adding "you can see that you are not the only one who believes in God.”

Demonstrators gathered on Friday in front of the U.S. consulate in Sao Paulo to protest the 50% tariff outlined by President Donald Trump on Brazilian exports.

Organized by unions and left-wing social movements, protesters waved banners a loft and chanted in support of current President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Brazil’s sovereignty whilst strongly criticizing Trump and Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro.

Some wore costumes resembling Trump and Bolsonaro while two dummies with the faces of Trump and Bolsonaro were set alight.

Trump on Thursday signed an executive order that set new tariffs on a wide swath of U.S. trading partners to go into effect on August 7 — the next step in his trade agenda that will test the global economy and sturdiness of American alliances built up over decades.

Trump had announced a 50% tariff on goods from Brazil, but the order was only 10% as the other 40% were part of a separate measure approved by Trump on Wednesday.

While Lula says he remains open to negotiation with the U.S., he made it clear that Bolsonaro’s current legal situation was not part of any deal.
