"We want to help. Everyone left in a hurry, without bringing their belongings, just trying to escape the line of fire, so they fled empty-handed. We are not on the frontline, so we help find commodities, food, pillows and mats for people who evacuated to the shelter."

STORYLINE:
Thai monks from a temple close to the border with Cambodia, where deadly clashes have erupted say they are refusing to evacuate the area.
The temple in Surin province is about 10 kilometers away from the border where clashes have killed at least 33 people and displaced more than 168,000.
The six monks are sheltering in the largely deserted area in a makeshift bunker made from concrete tubes.
About a meter wide and four meters deep, it is divided into two rooms and equipped with electricity, sockets, lights and electric fans.
Inside, the monks were sit on mats, checking their phones.
