A luxury cruise ship is to repatriate hundreds of Israelis, stranded in Cyprus, since the airspace over Israel and the Middle East closed after Israel and Iran began trading attacks last Friday, June 13.

Cyprus has become a meeting point for evacuees from Israel or Israelis wishing to return home after being stranded abroad, with thousands now in Cyprus trying to reach Israel.

Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of Iran’s last Shah, toppled in the 1979 Islamic Revolution, published a video address on Tuesday 17 June, reiterated his call for a regime change in Tehran, adding that the Islamic Republic is collapsing and that the time has come for the Iranian people to “reclaim Iran."

He said Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had “gone into hiding underground" and lost control of the country, describing the moment as “irreversible." “The end of the Islamic Republic is the end of its 46-year war against the Iranian nation," he wrote, adding, “Now is the time to rise."

A SpaceX Starship rocket exploded during a routine test on Wednesday (18 June) at Starbase, the company’s launch site in Texas.

Footage shows the 36 rocket, which was undergoing a static fire test, suddenly blowing up, with the screen going white before fading to reveal an enormous fireball.

In a statement, Elon Musk’s SpaceX said the rocket suffered “a major anomaly” whilst preparing for the tenth flight test.

It said that “all personnel are safe and accounted for”, before stating that there are no hazards to nearby communities. The company advised people not to approach the site.
