Thousands of pagers distributed to the militant group Hezbollah exploded across Lebanon on 17 September 2024.

Following years of planning, the devices were remotely detonated by Israel after it used shell companies to sell the rigged devices to Hezbollah’s commercial associates.

Hezbollah had been firing rockets into Israel almost daily for nearly a year in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

The pager attack was stunning in its scope. It wounded more than 3,000 people and killed 12, including two children.

Human rights and United Nations reports called the attack indiscriminate, saying it may have violated international law.

The first migrants who arrived in the UK after crossing the English Channel have been detained under the new “one in, one out” deal with France, Sir Keir Starmer has confirmed.

The first detentions came after people arrived in Dover on Wednesday, 6 August, the first day the pilot scheme came into force.

The agreement, announced by the prime minister in a joint press conference with Emmanuel Macron last month, means that any adult migrant who crosses the Channel will now be at risk of return if their asylum claim is considered inadmissible.

For each small boat migrant sent back across the English Channel, an asylum seeker will be allowed to enter the UK from France under a legal route.

UK officials aim to make referrals for returns to France within three days of a person’s arrival by small boat, while French authorities will respond within 14 days.

Apple's CEO has presented Donald Trump with 24-karat gold and glass statue.

Tim Cook unveiled the gift at a White House event on Wednesday, 6 August, where the US President announced Apple will invest an additional $100 billion in U.S. jobs and suppliers.

The one-of-a-kind piece was manufactured wholly in the U.S. and designed by a former US Marine Corps Corporal, who now works for the tech giant.

Watch the moment a bear walks up to a home in Colorado and opens the back door.

CCTV footage shared by Colorado Parks and Wildlife on Tuesday (5 August) shows the animal roaming around the property in Telluride at night.

Approaching the door, it stands on its two hind legs and uses its front paws to turn the handle before making its way inside.

Sharing the shocking clip, the agency said: “Bears are capable of opening doors. And once they’ve learned that, it can lead to a lot of conflict.”

Donald Trump was left "amazed" after a crowd didn't applaud his ban on trans people competing in women's' sports.

The US President spoke of the recent ban on "men" from competing in women's sports saying, "it's amazing the way I don't hear any applause for that one... nobody wants to clap its crazy."
