Devastating footage shows flash floods in New Mexico destroying a mail order business at terrifying speeds.

CCTV shared by The Ruidoso Trading Post on Tuesday (8 July) shows water rapidly rising through the business’ workspace, as objects in the room rise to the ceiling as water fills the space.

The business confirmed that all staff and customers are safe, but their “workspace has been completely turned upside down” with many items “washed away”.

New Mexico was hit by severe flash flooding triggered by heavy monsoon rains on Tuesday, leaving at least three people dead - two of them children - in the mountain village of Ruidoso.

The National Weather Service confirmed that multiple houses have been washed away by the intense flooding.

Donald Trump has said that he “would be the first to know” if a big decision such as the Ukraine weapons pause was authorised by the government, despite earlier saying he did not know who ordered it.

Responding to a question from a reporter about the decision being made without his consent on Wednesday (9 July), the US president said: “I would know, if a decision is made I would be the first to know in fact most likely i’d give the order but I haven’t done that yet.”

The Pentagon announced on June 30 that it would hold back some weapons pledged to Kyiv because of concerns that American stockpiles were running short on supply.

Asked by a reporter on Tuesday (8 July) on who authorised the pause, he appeared annoyed and replied: “I don’t know, you tell me.”

A June heatwave may have caused the deaths of 263 people in London, according to a new study by scientists from Imperial College London and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

The researchers analysed excess deaths between 23 June and 2 July, concluding that climate change made the capital nearly 4°C hotter than it would have been.

Around two-thirds of the deaths were directly linked to this rise, effectively tripling the toll. With a third heatwave now on the way, experts are warning that the UK’s homes, schools, and hospitals remain dangerously unprepared for this new climate reality.
