This is the moment Georgia police rescued two toddlers trapped in a hot car in a mall parking lot.

Bodycam footage shows Cobb County officers breaking the window of a vehicle outside Dick’s Sporting Goods on 4 June after a bystander called 911.

The children, found crying and improperly restrained, were left in the car for 41 minutes. The internal temperature of the vehicle reached 117 degrees (47°C).

Father J’quawn Dixon was arrested at the scene and charged with two felony counts of second-degree child cruelty.

Police thanked the citizens who called them, "Your quick action is the reason these kids are safe today.”

Emmanuel Macron has arrived at No 10 for crunch talks, as Sir Keir Starmer’s “one in, one out” migration deal hangs in the balance.

On the second day of his state visit to the UK, the French president was greeted warmly by the prime minister and his wife as the UK pushes France to do more to stop migrant crossings.

The prime minister hopes to strike a “one in, one out” deal to send small boat migrants back to the continent, in exchange for the UK accepting asylum seekers in Europe who have a British link.

Donald Trump was caught off-guard by the Pentagon’s decision to announce a pause in some weapons deliveries last week to Ukraine.

An official close to Trump, who is said to have privately expressed frustration with Pentagon officials, claimed the President had been caught "flat footed" by the announcement.

The news came before Russia launched its largest air attack on Ukraine overnight, launching 728 drones and 13 missiles at targets around the country, Kyiv’s air defence said on Wednesday.

Nigel Farage was drowned out by hecklers as he criticised Emmanuel Macron during Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, 9 July.

As the Reform UK leader stood up, jeers rang out across the House of Commons.

He went on to say that the reason the UK voted for Brexit was because "we wanted to take back control of our borders".

Mr Farage told Sir Keir Starmer that the country demands "that you are not dictated to by an increasingly arrogant, anti-Brexit French president."

The prime minister responded by insisting that Labour are "fixing the mess that we inherited."

Yemen's Houthi rebels have released a video of what it alleges to be militants boarding a vessel in the Red Sea, following back to back attacks on cargo ships on Sunday (6 July).

In footage shared by the group’s media wing on Tuesday (8 July), a group of masked individuals can be seen entering a ship they claim to be HMV Magic Seas with guns.

A later clip shows what appears to be an explosion on board the ship, with large black plumes quickly rising to the sky.

The group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The Independent cannot independently verify dates, locations or conditions of footage.

On Sunday, another attack suspected to have been carried out by Yemen’s Houthi group took place on Liberian-flagged cargo ship Eternity C. Three sailors were killed and two wounded.

This is the moment a house gets swept away as flash floods hit New Mexico.

Floodwaters trapped people in their homes and cars as monsoon rains triggered flash flooding and an entire house was swept downstream on Tuesday (8 July).

Emergency crews carried out at least 85 swift water rescues in the Ruidoso area, including of people who were trapped in their homes and cars, said Danielle Silva of the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

No injuries or deaths were immediately reported, but Silva said the extent of the destruction wouldn’t be known until the water recedes.
