Tributes have poured in after 28-year-old Liverpool FC forward Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva died in a car crash in Spain.

The pair had been travelling in a Lamborghini when the car veered off the road and burst into flames following what police suspect was a tyre blowout while overtaking.

Tributes are flooding in for the pair from vast numbers of former players, clubs, sporting figures, and footballing fans, who just months earlier witnessed Jota win his first Premier League title.

Donald Trump has toured a new immigration detention centre in the Florida Everglades, suggesting the facility, nestled amidst alligator-filled swamps, could serve as a model for future lockups nationwide.

Donald Trump has toured a new immigration detention centre in the Florida Everglades, suggesting the facility, nestled amidst alligator-filled swamps, could serve as a model for future lockups nationwide.

The US President joked about those locked up being attacked by alligators if they escape.

His visit on Tuesday comes as his administration accelerates efforts to expand the infrastructure necessary for increasing deportations.

During the tour, Mr Trump expressed a desire to see similar centres established in "really, many states" across the country. He also controversially raised the prospect of deporting US citizens.

Further escalating concerns, the President endorsed the idea of deploying Florida National Guard forces to act as immigration judges. This measure, he argued, would ensure migrants are ejected from the country more rapidly, despite the widely acknowledged constitutional implications of such a move.

This is the moment a plane bounces off the runway as the aircraft battles strong winds at a Madeira airport.

Footage captured of the landing on Monday (30 June) shows the Marabu Airlines A320 flight violently swaying as it touches down on the tarmac at Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport.

The airport in the popular tourist hotspot is notorious for its steep cliffs and unpredictable winds, leading it to be dubbed one of the “most challenging for pilots”.

The shock landing came as a reported 49 flights, both arrivals and departures, were cancelled due to severe weather conditions on the island.

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has died aged 28 after a car accident in Spain.

The crash occured in the province of Zamora and Jota’s 26-year-old brother, Andre, a footballer for FC Penafiel in Portugal, is also reported to have been in the vehicle.

Jota married partner Rute Cardoso in Porto two weeks ago. His last Instagram post shows a video of the wedding day, with the caption: “A day we will never forget.”

The Portugal international joined Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 and established himself as a key attacker under Jurgen Klopp and latterly Arne Slot, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup in his five-year spell at Anfield.
