This is the moment a rare phenomenon was spotted at a beach in Portugal, as the country faces a heatwave with highs of 42C.

Beachgoers on Sunday (29 June) were shocked when they saw a “roll cloud” coming out of the ocean and heading towards the shore.

The dense tsunami-like cloud occurs when hot and cold air masses collide, forming a thick cloud that condenses into a curved-shape.

Climate expert Mário Marques said it is not the first time Portugal has experienced a roll cloud, but is more common to witness the phenomenon in somewhere like Australia, where cold air from Tasmania collides with hot air on the mainland.

Tesla says it has achieved a groundbreaking milestone in autonomous driving: a car that delivers itself with no human involvement whatsoever.

In footage posted to social media by Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company, a brand-new Tesla made a fully autonomous journey from the Gigafactory Texas manufacturing plant to its new owner's home — roughly a 30-minute drive — without any human intervention.

The route reportedly included parking lots and highways to city streets, all navigated solely by Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system.

An Israeli airstrike hit a seaside cafe near Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip on Monday, killing at least 30 people and wounding dozens more, most of them women, children and journalists.

The Al-Baqa cafe, located on the western Gaza Strip, was packed with people seeking refuge from the perilous conditions and escaping the sweltering summer heat of their shelters.

Videos captured thick plumes of smoke billowing from the scene, revealing extensive destruction to the cafe and its surroundings, as eyewitnesses recounted the devastating events.

Eyewitness Hani al-Durra said: "Suddenly, we heard a loud explosion and started running."

Kim Jong Un shed a tear during a public tribute to fallen North Korean soldiers who died whilst fighting alongside the Russian army in Ukraine.

The North Korean dictator watched footage of the battlefield whilst at a ceremony held to mark the first anniversary of a military treaty between Pyongyang and Moscow on Sunday (29 June).

In footage broadcast on North Korea’s state KRT television, Kim can be seen with tears in his eyes as photos of himself in front of coffins of killed soldiers were displayed on a large screen at East Pyongyang Grand Theatre.

According to the British Ministry of Defence, more than 6,000 North Korean soldiers have been killed or injured while fighting alongside Russia’s forces in Kursk.

Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Russia is “not looking for a way out of the war” and instead preparing to launch a new operation in Europe.

Posting on X on Monday (30 June), the Ukrainian president said that Vladimir Putin is “not changing his plans” and is always “looking for where to exploit a weakness”.

He cautioned: “They are preparing for new operations including on the territory of European territories.”

“They must see that there is the wherewithal to stop them everywhere,” he said, adding that Ukraine’s allies should show “more resilience, more coordination and efficiency of our common security architecture in Europe”.

On Tuesday (1 July), a Russia-appointed official claimed that Moscow troops have occupied all of illegally-annexed Luhansk, making it the only Ukrainian region to have fallen in its entirety during the war.
