A federal appeals court has blocked enforcement of Florida’s drag show ban, calling the law ‘substantially overbroad’ and likely unconstitutional.
The ruling highlighted the state’s unusual focus on drag queen Jimbo, from ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race.’ Judge Robin Rosenbaum noted that officials seemed especially preoccupied with Jimbo’s acts, including his ‘baloney birth’ routine, where he theatrically pulls baloney from a prosthetic stomach while lip-syncing in full-body costume.
The court emphasized that the First Amendment demands clarity and specificity — shielding performers from government overreach while the legal challenge continues.
