Any questions? Comments? Thoughts? Send me a text!

Ever noticed when you hop into a new car, maybe it's a little Audi A4 or something - then you hit the road and suddenly there's like a million other Audi A4's on the road? That's your Reticular Activating System (RAS) in action; the automatic filter you have in you to help you focus on what's important. That said, focus on the things you want and you'll get them. You'll filter out all the extra bullshit.

    Check it out.

And for more on the RAS and how to learn better and get what you want, check out Jim Kwik's book - Limitless

Here's a talk between Jim and Shawn Stevenson on how the RAS plays a big role in unlocking your brain's full potential.

  • 044: ATTENTION DRUMMERS!! TBT to the pilot episode of Brewdiments with Jesse Boland

Any questions? Comments? Thoughts? Send me a text!

In 2018 I decided I wanted to interview drummers and get their insight on their favourite beverages and what their practice routines looked like. Fact is, I want to level up my game so what better than to interview the best at what they do to see if there's a common theme... right?

I sat down with my pal Jesse Boland, fellow Los Cabos Drumstick Artist, bomb-ass drummer and coffee connoisseur on break at Arvo, downtown Toronto and this happened. Paradiddles, Moehler, Swiss Army Triplets all over an obnoxious amount of caffeine.

You can watch the full video on youtube here: Brewdiments Season 1, Episode 1: Arvo Coffee & Jesse Boland

Thank you for your understanding on the background noise volume. I was learning how to mic things properly and have since seen major improvements. Your tolerance is appreciated and I just wanted to ensure you know that I know It's not my finest audio quality.

    Check out Jesse here.

If you're in the Distillery district of Toronto, head over to Arvo.

LET ME KNOW WHAT'S GOOD! If you would liek me to bring back the Brewdiments show, please, lemme know. Have an idea for something else... cool... send me a DM on IG @miketheschwartz

  • 043: "Take The Free Squares" with Janis Isaman

Any questions? Comments? Thoughts? Send me a text!

Oftentimes we're told it's all gonna be hard to run our own show. Long hours and hard work are glorified as some sort of a badge of honour amongst the entrepreneurial community and to be honest, I'm sick of that shit.

Turns out my guest Janis Isaman, Movement Specialist and owner of My Body Couture is also seeing things differently from the rest. We get into how to pivot and make most of your skills. How to go where there's less dissonance and that to be successful doesn't always mean break you neck trying to outwork everyone else. Just do the shit you love and toss the rest. Easy, right? Right. Check it out.

For more on Janis visit her at mybodycouture.com She's a leading specialist of movement and nutrition and will help you get back on track in your own way. One to one and virtual group options available. Get at her. She's rad.

For those of you that wanna support men's mental health and suicide prevention amongst the music industry, please consider supporting my team at movember.com/miketheschwartz

I'm growing a dirty 'stache to go with this sick flow and I'm swinging a kettlebell everyday this month to raise some cash for the cause.

And lastly, please take a moment of silence to reflect and pay respect to the lives lost for our freedom this Remembrance Day.

Any questions? Comments? Thoughts? Send me a text!

Shout out to Z-Trip for last week's conversation and turning me on to Todd Henry's "Accidental Creative". This book has given me such a lift I wanted to share with you guys today one of my big takeaways in finding my purpose and re-aligning my goals with that after a fairly frustrating, confusing and isolated last couple of weeks. I'm back on track and I'm excited to share with you the 7 Word Bio practice to help you re-identify with yourself if you've been feeling the same since Mercury Retrograde.

Dig into Todd Henry and his first book "Accidental Creative" at accidentalcreative.com

    Dig into Z-trip at djztrip.com

Z-Trip also did the sick remix of one of Todd's podcasts. Think motivational speaking mixed with rad beats. It's unreal. Highly recommend.

I've got a couple challenges out this month to help raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention for men in the music industry. I'm growing a dirty 'stache to go with my sick mullet and I'm also swinging a kettlebell every single day for the month of November.

Have you ever stepped out on stage for a performance or to the boardroom and had to deliver a big presentation for the work crew? Hands get all sweaty, heart-racing, shortened breaths? Yeah, sounds about right. Here's a radical thought for some - excitement syptoms are the same!

Whoa!!! Check out a clip from a conversation I had with Licensed Psychologist and Music Performance Coach, Dr. Sierra Baird. (https://www.sierrabaird.com/)

We got into the ins and outs of how to reframe the meaning of the feelings we get and lay down strategies to use the energy created to our advantage. Super interesting conversation that may help you on that next big moment on stage or in front of the board members!

Any questions? Comments? Thoughts? Send me a text!

When Joe Carter hit that 3 run blast in the bottom of the 9th in Game 6 of the '93 World Series, he went against all odds, in a 2-2 count, 1 away and 2 on base...

Just goes to show how valuable patience is. In sports, as is in life you've got to wait for your pitch. You will have to overcome adversity and the better you get at trusting the process, Immersing yourself in positive environments, keeping close those around you that help push you towards limits you didn't even know you had, you will get to that next level.

    Be like Joe. Be clutch.

Any questions? Comments? Thoughts? Send me a text!

If you want to create change you have to do something different.

I've learned this over and over again, and in today's show I speak (on a bit of a rant) about how my ritual has helped shape my current lifestyle and general state of fullfilment. There will be times when I'm happy, times when I'm less happy. Even dare I say "sad"! (For those that know me...I hear your "yeah right!"s) Shit will happen and good shit will also happen. Sticking to a ritual to give yourself time to check in with yourself is what will make the difference. You give yourself more energy and more love and that way you can show up better for everyone else and the fires they want you to fight for them on the daily.

Think about it today... are you looking for a better way and if so, are you willing to change? The current way of doing things hasn't been working, so what's it going to take?
