  • Operation of God

Colossians 2:12, "Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead."

We are raised with Christ through faith in the operation of God. God did the work of raising Jesus from the dead. We are included in this resurrection when we have faith in the Lord Jesus. The gospel is outlined for us very clearly. Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose again on the third day.

Believe the good news that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God. Romans 10:9-10, 13; Philippians 2:10-11.

Heavenly Father, I believe the good news that Christ died for my sins, he was buried, and he rose again on the third day. Thank you Father God for raising me up with Christ through faith in the operation of God. Father, you raised up the Lord Jesus Christ, and will also raise me up in that day. Thank you, Father, for placing me into Christ. Amen.

  • At the right hand

Ephesians 1:20, "Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places"

God raised the Lord Jesus from the dead. After his resurrection the Lord Jesus ascended back to heaven, and is now set at the right hand of God the Father in heavenly places.

The Bible teaches us that just as Jesus was raised up and seated in the heavenly places so also those who are in Christ are raised up and made to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:4-7

Heavenly Father, thank you for raising us up and seating us together with the Lord Jesus in heavenly places. Lord, I look forward to the fulfillment of this truth in your word. I pray Lord that I may walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God. In Jesus name. Amen.

  • Raised up also

2 Corinthians 4:14, "Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you."

Here is another promise that believers in Jesus will be raised up like Jesus was resurrected. The fact of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus is evidence that we will also be raised up in Christ.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the earnest and assurance of our own resurrection. Just as surely as we are born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit, even as surely our physical body will be raised from the dust and changed into a resurrection body like unto the Lord. Philippians 3:21.

Heavenly Father, I look forward to the resurrection and receiving a new body that will never die. Lord your word promises that you will change this vile body that it may be fashioned like to the glorious body of the Lord Jesus Christ. Lord, you have all the power in heaven and earth. Thank you for the promise of giving me a new body that will never die. Amen.

  • Also raise us

1 Corinthians 6:14, "And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power."

The resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is the proof that the Bible gives us that we also will be raised up by God's power. The Lord will also raise us up from the dead as well.

Our hope is not in a system of doctrines, but our hope is in the fact that the God Man Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the third day. There is no higher or more important teaching in the entire Bible than this. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

Father, thank you for your promise that you will raise me up as well. You have given evidence and proof that you will raise me up because you raised up your son Jesus Christ. Father, thank you for placing me into you Son, for uniting me together with him. Father, thank you for making me into a new creation in Christ Jesus. Amen.

  • Son of God

Romans 1:4, "And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead"

The truth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God is tied in with his resurrection. Through God raising the Lord Jesus from the dead we see God proving the identity of the Lord Jesus. When Jesus was raised from the dead it was not with just a regular, natural body but with a resurrection body that can never die again. He is the first of this new creation, the new man with a resurrection body.

The spirit of holiness is the Holy Spirit. We see that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit were all involved in the birth, life, ministry, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. God is three in one. 1 John 5:7-8.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for the testimony of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus from the dead. Death is not the end of the line for those who believe and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Lord Jesus, thank you for dying in my place. I am thankful that you rose from the dead on the third day. Thank you for your promise that you will come again and receive us unto yourself that where you are we may be also. Amen.

  • Impossible

Acts 2:24, "Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it."

It was not possible for death to hold the Lord Jesus down. Jesus is the resurrection and the life. This scripture proves yet again the fact of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Praise God he is risen from the dead. We do not need to be afraid of death if we are in Christ Jesus.

Our faith in Christ rests upon the fact of his resurrection. Without the resurrection of Jesus there is no Christian faith. 1 Corinthians 15:17.

Heavenly Father, I thank you that Jesus is indeed risen from the dead. He rose from the dead on the third day, he appeared to his disciples, and he ascended into heaven. Lord, I know the word says that you are now at the right hand of God the Father, and that you live forever and make intercession for us. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for praying and interceding for me today. Amen.

  • Remembered and Believed

John 2:22, "When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said."

It is a challenge to remember the word of the Lord. This is one reason why I think it is so important to study God's word to the point of memorizing it. Real memory of God's word comes when we study it to the level of having the words in our heart and in our mind at all times.

Sometimes people hear the word but it does not change their lives. Hear, receive, and hold fast to the word of God so that you can bear the fruit of God's word in your life. Matthew 13:3-8.

Heavenly Father, help me to hold fast to your word and not forget what you have taught me, what you showed to me, and what I have learned. Lord, please help me to keep the word of God in my heart, and be ready always with your word on my lips. Help me, Lord, to never forget or let go of the word of God. Amen.

  • Rejected, Slain, Raised

Luke 9:22, "Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day."

The Lord Jesus told his disciples ahead of time that he would suffer, be rejected by the religious leaders, and would be killed. On the third day he would be raised from the dead. The Lord knows the end from the beginning.

As disciples of the Lord Jesus we will also face suffering and persecution in our lives. We are not any better than the Master. If the Lord endured such hardship for us, then we also are called to participate in the afflictions of the gospel. 2 Timothy 1:8.

Heavenly Father, you see everything from the beginning to the end. You knew what you would face in being rejected and killed upon the cross. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for all you did to save me and provide forgiveness of sins and redemption through your blood. Lord, I realize that being in Christ means I will face similar types of afflictions, not on the same scale as the Lord Jesus, but in the same way. Help me to be always ready to suffer and to participate in the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God. Amen.

  • What They Saw

Mark 9:9, "And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead."

Peter, James, and John had a vision of the glorified Lord Jesus upon the mountain of transfiguration. The Lord instructed them not to tell anyone about this vision until after he was risen from the dead. When the Lord gives us a vision we need to wait upon the Lord to know if we should share what he gives us, and also when we share what he gives to us. Sometimes the Lord will give us a vision just for ourselves, sometimes it is for others, and sometimes it is for a later time. Learn to wait on the Lord for instructions.

Peter mentioned this event in his letters to the church. 2 Peter 1:16-18.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for revealing your son Jesus Christ to us. I thank you for giving us life through his name. Lord, you reveal to us your will and purpose in so many different ways. Thank you for your written word that we can use to measure all things we see in the spirit. Lord, teach us to wait upon you, and to always know what we should share and when we should share it. Amen.

  • The Cover Up

Matthew 27:64, "Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first."

Even the attempt of these religious leaders to cover up the resurrection of Jesus provides further proof that Jesus Christ indeed rose from the dead.

By trying to lock down the burial tomb they provided another opportunity for God to demonstrate his power in raising Jesus Christ from the dead. The tomb could not hold him. The guards could not stop him. Matthew 27:63-66.

Heavenly Father, I see in this account of the burial of Jesus how you made even the enemies of the Lord Jesus provide further proof of his resurrection when they tried to seal his tomb with a guard. This shows even more specifically the reality of the resurrection. No man could have stolen the body of the Lord Jesus. Jesus was raised from the dead, and the Roman guards could not hold back the work of God. Amen.
