James 1:5, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."

God promises to give us wisdom if we ask him. It is God's desire for us to be filled with wisdom. Paul prayed the church would be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Colossians 1:9.

We cannot obey God in this world of lies and deception unless we are filled with the wisdom of God. Pray for God to give you his wisdom each day. Pray through Ephesians 1:16-19.

Heavenly Father, I know that I lack the wisdom I need to have. I need to know you more and more every day. I want to always, every day, be increasing in the knowledge of God. Lord, fill me with the Holy Spirit with wisdom and understanding in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Colossians 4:5, "Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time."

Who are those without? These are those outside the house of faith. This is an exhortation to look for opportunities in conversation with unbelievers to share the gospel. When we are promoting the gospel we are in essence "redeeming the time". In other words, there is nothing better we can do with our lives than share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Do you know that the Lord Jesus commanded us to preach the gospel to every person? Read Matthew 28:18-20.

Heavenly Father, grant me grace and mercy that I can recognize every opportunity I have to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Help me, Lord, to redeem the time that I have when I am around people who need to hear the good news. Lord, deliver me from all fear of man, and give me boldness to share the faith of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Colossians 3:16, "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."

To be filled with the knowledge of God's will requires that we read, study, memorize, and meditate upon God's word. This is work. No way around it. But if we will have the word of Christ dwell in us richly there is no other way. Set aside time every day to memorize God's word.

Don't let the devil convince you that you cannot memorize scripture. I've had students with elementary school level of education or who could barely read who, by God's grace, memorized scriptures. Start with Philippians 4:13.

Lord, fill me with the word of God. Help me to meditate upon your word day and night. Lord, I want to sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs unto you, singing with grace in my heart unto the Lord. Grant me grace and mercy to be filled with the word of God, to be filled with praise and worship every day. In Jesus name. Amen.

Colossians 2:3, "In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."

Everything we need for salvation, deliverance, healing, provision, protection, purpose, hope... Everything a man needs in this life is found in the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:3

If men do not seek the Lord Jesus and wisdom in him they will be led astray by deceivers who beguile people with enticing words. As we have received the Lord Jesus, we need to continue to walk in him, rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith. Amen. Colossians 2:3-5.

Father God, there are so many people who are seeking after wisdom, instruction, and understanding for their lives, but they are seeking this wisdom in man-made systems of philosophy and psychology. They won't find any relief in that direction. Father God, you have made provision for our souls to be healed, but that provision can only be found in your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is healer for our mind, will, and emotions. He is the one who heals our bodies from sickness and disease. He is the one who forgives all of our sins. Turn the hearts of people away from these hopeless man-made systems and to the simplicity of faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Colossians 1:9, "For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;"

Wisdom from God is very important for the Christian. The world will offer a false wisdom. Men will offer false wisdom through philosophy and vain deceit and through traditions and the principles of the world system. We need to be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.

Jesus is the fullness of the Godhead bodily. He is all wisdom and spiritual understanding. It is all found in him. Amen. Colossians 2:9-10.

Father God, I do not want to follow the pattern of the world system with what it offers in philosophy, psychology, self-help, and step programs. I do not want the wisdom of men or of the devil or any kind of worldly wisdom. I seek after the wisdom that comes from you alone, and that wisdom is not just an abstract idea. Wisdom is a Person. He is the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Ephesians 3:10, "To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,"

God is demonstrating his manifold wisdom to spiritual powers in the heavens through the church. Christians are an object lesson to these spiritual powers in the heavenly places.

The way we live, the words we speak, our attitudes, and our actions are observed by more than just other people. We are under observation from invisible beings who live in the spiritual realm. They examine our lives and learn more about God through our lives. 1 Peter 1:12.

Lord, please help me to live a life worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing. May my testimony be faithful to Jesus in front of men and also before those invisible watchers who examine our lives. Help me to live a life that is in agreement with the truth that is in Jesus. Deliver me from all lies, deceit, and hypocrisy, and give me a pure heart and clean hands, in Jesus name. Amen.

Ephesians 1:17, "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:"

The Holy Spirit is the spirit of wisdom and revelation. He reveals the Lord Jesus Christ to us. It is God's will for us to be filled with the wisdom and revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Pray that you may know Christ more and more every day.

It is God's will for us to increase in the knowledge of Him. Colossians 1:9-10. Know God's will and grow in this knowledge every day, being fruitful in every good work and walking worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing.

Father God, I pray that you would bless me today with the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. I pray that you would bless my wife and everyone in my family with the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Lord, open our spiritual eyes that we may know Jesus better today than we did yesterday. In Jesus name. Amen.

2 Corinthians 1:12, "For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward."

The opposite of "fleshly" wisdom is a good conscience and a life of simplicity and godly sincerity. God wants us to live out the wisdom of a simple, humble life of faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

God's wisdom is a life of grace. This grace comes to us as a result of the finished and completed work of Christ in his death, burial, and resurrection. Romans 5:16; Ephesians 2:5, 8.

Father God, thank you for your mercy and grace. Lord, I am thankful for the power of your grace in enabling us to live a humble, simple, and sincere lifestyle. Lord, deliver us from all fleshly wisdom. Fill us with the heavenly wisdom that comes from the Holy Spirit. Amen.

1 Corinthians 12:8, "For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;"

God gives spiritual gifts, including the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge. This is not wisdom or knowledge that comes from man's systems of religion or philosophy. This is a wisdom that comes from the Holy Spirit.

Remember Jesus said that the Father reveals these things to babes (the humble). Matthew 11:25. God hides from the "wise and prudent" and instead reveals himself unto babes.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for all of the gifts of the Spirit. Lord, you never change, and your word never changes. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are for us today just as much as they were in the early church. You have not changed your mind about giving the church all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I thank you for giving the church the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge. Amen.

1 Corinthians 3:19, "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness."

God is actively opposed to the wisdom of the world. He will oppose anyone who makes use of the wisdom of the world in ministry or teaching God's word. Anyone who strays away from the simplicity of the gospel will eventually have their ministry crumble. God hates the world system, and will always destroy the wisdom of man where he finds it.

The Bible shows us what the wisdom of the world looks like. Colossians 2:8 teaches us to beware of a man who would spoil us through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world.

Heavenly Father, search my life for any errors where I have received the wisdom of the world. Deliver me from the foolishness of thinking like the world system. Lord, you will deal with people who follow the wisdom of the world. You take them in their own craftiness. Lord, save me from this deception. Give a pure heart, oh Lord. In Jesus name. Amen.
