Mildly Pleased

In the beginning there were three meals a day. That wasn’t enough. Top Ten Thursdays said, “let there be snacks!” And there were snacks. And they were good. But which were the best? This was a topic worthy of considerable debate, for what truly is a snack if not any food eaten ‘tween meals? Could […]

This is a weird one. I mean, the thing about doing a top 10 list podcast is that it’s hard to break the formula of top 10 albums of a year, movies about a subject, video games on a console, that sort of thing. There are plenty of people out there doing lists like that. […]

For the last time, Mad Men is back and to everyone’s surprise, the Sixties are over. And if we all thought that decade was weird, just wait until you find out what the Seventies have in store for us! Yes, the decade that gave us Star Wars and jokes about Star Wars on That ’70s […]

It’s ’95 Fest here at Stream Police and Michael and John are counting down some of their favorite flicks of that iconic year. Who will make the cut? Casper? Batman Forever? Mortal Kombat, maybe? (It did have some impressive puppets). On top of that, the dynamic duo reviews, indie heartthrob Jim Jarmusch’s ’95 cult western, […]

The story of the video game Rock Band, as well as its sequels, is the story of how the world’s greatest cover band eventually becomes the most popular group of all time. Here at Mildly Pleased, we’d like to believe that could happen someday. I mean, is that really such a far cry from what […]

It’s the future. The bad future. The one where it’s been more than two months since the last Pitching Tents. Now our only hope is a young woman with a lot of determination but very little ability to actually drive the plot. It’s up to her to be bossed around by all the men in […]

It’s an Oscar Extravaganza on Stream Police! Who gets to walk the red carpet this week? Why it’s good ‘ol Bill Shakespeare from the 1998 Best Picture Winner Shakespeare in Love. If that wasn’t enough, listen to Michael and John dish on this weekend’s prestigious award show. Who will take home the gold? Why the […]

I’m not so sure about Ant-Man, everybody. Marvel’s been on a hot streak because they’ve always put passionate, talented fans behind the camera for every single one of their movies. This was supposed to be the ultimate realization of that, a project Edgar Wright had been working on since 2006 (that’s two thirds of Boyhood […]

There’s something really tricky about top 10 lists. When you don’t have a list at all, when you just have to name a movie your favorite of the year, it’s actually not that bad. It seems like it would be, but usually there’s just one movie that you truly, truly want to stand up for. […]

Well, so I’m pretty sure everyone had an exciting day today watching the Seattle gridiron team come from behind to earn their tickets to the Big Game in overtime. That was a game so exhilarating, you might need a little help coming down. You gotta cool off, right? You’ve got work in the morning. Maybe […]
