This week Erik Dube stopped by the show to discuss shoes. Erik is the lead buyer of footwear for Running Warehouse. This guy knows shoes…from minimalist to max cushioning! He also answers the age-old question – when do I replace my shoes?
A little more on Erik – he ran competitively in high school and college, and then moved to the ultra distance. He has completed more than 60 ultras, including 5-sub 24-hour finishes at the Western States 100. Take a listen to hear how many pairs of running shoes he has!

This week the guys switch gears and bring on a sprinter from North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Karin Femi (@LooseLeafRunner) never ran growing up and suffered from knee pain as an adult. On a whim, she did a 1k fun run and found she like it. So, Karin did what most runners do — she tried a longer race, the 10k. Karin quickly found that her talent and passion were for shorter distances. She connected with a sprint club and hasn’t stopped sprinting. Karin is now chasing her dream of qualifying for the Canadian Track & Field Championships in the 100m and 200m! Karin also supports the running community as a personal trainer focused on injury prevention.

In this episode, the guys caught up with London-based ultramarathoner and running coach Gemma Carter (@gems_carter). Gemma recounts setting the 50km Treadmill Guinness World Record; from her training to all the technical requirements she had to follow to make the record official. Gemma details her long-distance running career which started with her first marathon when she was still a teenager. She also discusses her 2015 goals and upcoming races. Finally, Gemma provides great advice for runners of all levels, including mental strategies for tackling big races.
