Hey hey folks!  Just a mini episode discussing some of the awesome races coming up in the next month or so.  I (and a lot of dear friends) have some big races coming up.  So, I mention some and give their races and tell a little bit of info about those races.  A little more info on some than others as it's based on my experience and research.  This is a shorter reprieve from some of the long interviews I usually put out.  Just know that I have an awesome lineup of interesting people on tap after I get back from Miami.  I'm including links to some of the races mentioned in case you want to put them on your bucket list.

Lisa Pozzoni is an avid trail runner, coach, specializing in Chi running and walking, and is one of the leaders of Dawn Patrol for the TransRockies runs.  I came upon Lisa on Day 3 at TransRockies and we ran together for an hour or so and really enjoyed getting to know her.  I think you will too.

Etienne Durocher will probably never introduce himself to anyone as the Canadian Cowboy, lol, but in his early days he hadd a ranch and actually rode bulls and did calf-roping, so the name at least used to fit.  My friend Rachel Belmont introduced me to Etienne a month or so ago and finally got the chance to sit down and chat with him last week.  What an interesting guy and interesting story!

Brandon Miller from Calgary, Alberta won his entry to TransRockies by winning The Moab Run the Rocks, a 3 Day Sister Race, so he was no stranger to trail domination.  Brandon has done very well in races with lots of elevation gain so he was right his element going up and over the many challenging climbs of the beautiful Ortholite TransRockies 6 day stage race.  Day 1 was a nice rolling adventure, but day 2, the climbing began by going from Vicksburg, CO up and over Hope Pass to Leadville.  Brandon ran his 13 miles with 3500 feet of climbing, which all took place in about 5 miles, in 1/3 of the time it took me.  ha-ha.  Enjoy his story and race recap.

Last Saturday, 8/10, I flew out to Colorado to begin my TransRockies Run adventure, and wow, was it an adventure!  I got to hang with some friends, made a ton of new friends, see some epic scenery and run some really challenging mountain trails.  The Ortholite TransRockiesRun is a turnkey adventure.  You get yourself to Denver and they can take care of the rest.  They shuttle you to the base camp, feed you, and bring you back.  The courses are mapped out, supported, and the community is amazing.  I highly recommend.  There will be several episodes documenting this incredible week in the mountains, but I wanted to get this one out just to get that party started before I leave for my cruise.  Enjoy!

Mikey Bee of Sandspur Ultras has a reputation for inventing crazy hard races in and around Jupiter, Florida to challenge the mind and body.  Some may call him sadistic.  But one thing's for sure, Mikey is a beloved member of the Florida Ultrarunning Community, and that community really shows up to run and volunteer at his races.  The Trident races are the last weekend in July.  There are 2 - half marathons, a daytime and nighttime.  There's a marathon, a 12-hour version and a 24-hour race.  You'll have to listen for the particulars.  My guests are 1st overall - Jamie Saunders, 2nd overall - Yianni Babiolakis, 2nd female - Loan Vo, 2nd male - Ramon Palomo, 3rd male - Luke Vidal.  What an amazing group of runners!  I think you'll enjoy hearing their stories, lessons, least favorite things, most favorite things, training tips, etc.  Check it out!

Lauren Klein is a UESCA certified ultra-running coach in the Reno, Nevada area.  I first heard about her and the excellent crewing and pacing skills she possesses in my interview with Cocodona 250 and Tahoe 200 champ Harry Subertas, her partner.  He also mentioned she was a coach which made me curious to hear her story.  Coming from the athletic trainer background at the Major League Baseball level gives her a unique perspective on physical ability, injury rehab, and many other important things.  I really enjoyed hearing her story and learning a bit about her coaching perspective.  Reach out for a consultation if you are interested.

Tara Dower is an ultrarunner from Virginia.  Very few hills there but she is not afraid of the mountain races.  Her most recent race was Hardrock 100 and she took 4th place.  She has wins at Umstead, Uwharrie, Blood Rock, Devil Dog, Hellbender, and Run Rabbit Run.  She holds an FKT already, she's also making a run at the Southbound Appalachian Trail FKT in just a few weeks.  Tara is such an energetic and positive person.  It was a treat to get to know her.  I think you will like it.

I first met Scott Owenby immediately after he sprinted past me at about a 6-minute pace to finish his first sub 24 - 100 miler at The Bronze Dragonfly in Savannah, Ga.  He looked like he could have gone sub 20 at that point, and he probably will one day.  Scott is a competitive guy that is fairly new on the 100 mile scene.  So, we will see where he takes it.  He's got an awesome story and does a great job telling it.  Enjoy!
