Marines with the Infantry Officer's Course conducted a long range raid on San Clemente Island, Calif., March 24. The Marines were lifted approximately 70 miles off the coast of southern California by Third Marine Aircraft Wing and East Coast aircraft. The Marines also used new technology to plan before boots hit the ground.

Tech. Sgt. Jamie Meadows-Valley traveled to Ukraine to adopt 2-year-old Oleksandra from an orphanage. Jamie, her husband, Master Sgt. KANGAROO FLATS TRAINING AREA, Northern Territory, Australia – Marines

with 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, perform a live-fire range during a training exercise, here, May 1, 2014. The Marines with MRF-D will conduct independent and bilateral training with the Australian Defence Force aboard existing ADF facilities during the six-month rotation.

On June 19, 2014, President Barack Obama will award Corporal William "Kyle" Carpenter, U.S. Marine Corps (Ret), the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry. Corporal Carpenter will receive the Medal of Honor for his courageous actions while serving as an Automatic Rifleman with Company F, 2d Battalion, 9th Marines, Regimental Combat Team 1, 1st Marine Division (Forward), I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. The 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing helped San Diego agencies put out several fires that have ravaged the county. The unit used CH-53E Super Stallions, KC-130J Super Hercules', UH-1Y Hueys and CH-46E Sea Knights to help combat the fires throughout the area. Also available in high definition
