  • 215. Millennial Mom Podcast Crossover with Kaila Maguire
In today’s episode, we are providing proof that there is no need to compare or compete when it comes to finding your place in podcasting and in parenting. I teamed up with fellow podcast host Kaila Maguire to do a very cool crossover episode. Check it out! Kaila is a teacher turned stay-at-home parent who currently lives in Northern Virginia with her husband and son. After going through pregnancy and the fourth trimester Kaila started Parent Tell, a podcast dedicated to sharing all types of pregnancy and parenting experiences, but particularly those that are not yet discussed enough in the mainstream. Pregnancy and the fourth trimester were very isolating, jarring, and just plain sucky at times for Kaila; a lot of this had to do with the fact that she simply didn’t know what she didn’t know. Movies, tv, and most friendly conversations about pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting barely scrape the surface of what life is often like during such a transformational time. Kaila didn’t want birthing people and new parents to feel the way she did, and so Parent Tell was born on November 6, 2020. Through her podcast Kaila provides a safe and inclusive space to parent and tell about it. It is Kaila’s hope that candid conversations about birth, postpartum, and the mental load of parenting, to name a few, will help to normalize the often hard to discuss realities of raising a child, resulting in more support, grace, and acknowledgement for parents.
In her spare time Kaila enjoys supporting new parents with a listening and empathetic ear, dancing in the kitchen with her family, and smashing the patriarchy any chance she can get. The toddler mom recently became a certified birth educator and is now offering birth classes through her new venture, Not Your Mama’s Birth Class. Classes are available in person (in the D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia area) as well as virtually! Kaila is excited about these classes as they are honest, detailed, and aim to empower birthing people and their partners.

  • 211. Cooking with Kids, A New Cookbook by Bri Grajkowski

Do you want to be able to cook with confidence with your kids? Bri Grajkowski of BriGeeski is sharing the solution so that you can get the skills you need to make delicious meals your whole family will love.

"When they were interested, I followed their lead, and when they were ready to cook, that's the best time to cook with them."

Bri Grajkowski is a mother of two who blogs about family fun activities, everyday recipes and travel. She is also a creative director and helps other companies with their design and marketing. She didn't have any training or background in culinary but learned to cook when she had kids.

    This is Bri Grajkowski's story...

Bri Grajkowski is a mother, blogger, and creative director who recently published a cookbook called Cooking with Kids. She didn't have any training or background in culinary arts, but learned to cook when she had kids of her own. After the pandemic, she reached out to one publisher and they agreed to publish a cookbook with her children's cooking recipes. In her cookbook, Bri suggests different recipes that can help broaden a kid's palate. She suggests introducing new foods and micro portioning for kids. It's tough with little friends around too because kids gravitate to what their friends are doing and they don't want to follow suit. According to the cookbook, making a list of dinners and putting them into categories is a good way to break up the routine of meals

In this episode, you will learn the following:
    1. How Bri Grajkowski learned to cook when she had kids
    2. What recipes are included in Bri's cookbook
    3. How to get kids interested in cooking and trying new foods

  • 209. Managing Meltdowns in Toddlers and Teens with Rebekah Doak

Do you feel like you're constantly trying to keep up with the perfect parenting you see on social media? You're not alone. So many of us feel like we have to constantly be doing more, achieving more, and acquiring more stuff in order to feel happy and successful. But the truth is, all of us are struggling to figure it out.

In this episode, I had the chance to chat with parenting coach, Rebekah Doak. Listen as she shows you how to manage tantrums and meltdowns by teaching us about box breathing and emotional regulation. As a mom herself, Rebekah understands the challenges that we moms face every day. By using the tools that she's going to share with us, we'll be able to get through the day with a little bit more ease.

Rebekah Doak is a parenting coach and owner of Elavie Consulting. She has worked with children and families for over 25 years, specializing in tantrums, meltdowns, and behavioral issues. In this episode, you will learn the following:
    1. The importance of modeling empathy for children.

    2. The benefits of using a visual schedule to help children take ownership of their daily routine.

    3. The importance of preventative measures in reducing daily struggles.
