A Conversation with Dana Malstaff and Amanda Jane Clarkson - Raising a Business and Nurturing Your Family Like a Pro
On today’s uplifting podcast, I share an inspiring conversation with Dana Malstaff who has mastered coexisting her business and family life.
Dana is the CEO and founder of Boss Mom, she is a mother, author, speaker, business strategist, podcaster, blindspot reducer, and movement maker. She launched the Boss Mom brand with her first book, Boss Mom: The Ultimate Guide to Raising a Business and Nurturing Your Family Like a Pro, and quickly grew to a 6-figure business within a year.
Now, she has thousands of students in various courses and helps women all over the world raise their businesses and babies at the same time. She believes that pursuing our passions and building our dreams, while including our children in the process, is the best way to build thriving businesses and families, and ultimately we need to show our children that what we love can be financially viable.
You will love hearing Dana’s story where it all started. After leaving her job, starting a business and finding out she was pregnant... the adventure began. Dana knew she didn’t want to be a stay at home mum and expressed how important it was for her to build a business and make money at the same time as nurturing her family.
Dana believes you can have it all. You don’t have to pick between being a Mum and having a business. Women have big beautiful brains - you can do it all. Family and business priorities can all coexist. I believe in intentional coexisting, not balance. You can do whatever you want. There’s so much opportunity.
I asked Dana to share how she deals with feelings of guilt as a mum and entrepreneur. “I’m confident in my decisions. If I’m not confident, I always ask why am I feeling guilty? Where is the tension? What are my choices?” she says. “Be conscious about the choices you are making. Guilt is just a byproduct of not making decisions. There is always a choice and you can work through it”.
We discuss the importance in finding a safe space to be surrounded by people that understand and get you. “That’s why she created Boss Mum. Only ask the right people the right questions. Surround yourselves with people that think you are brave, not crazy. If they think you’re crazy, then they’re not the right people to ask for advice. We all have our groups”.
Dana also shares some great tips on failure and what to do during the tough times. Your failures are not unique. If you have a fear, you won't want to miss hearing about “Calling the elephant in the room” and what it can possibly do for you.
Hear how Dana is aiming to help women every single morning feel valued and loved. It’s a podcast you’ll love from several different areas of life.
