Hello, everybody, and welcome to Troy Harris, where we discuss the never ending benefits of a strong body and steady mind in the context of love, justice, and community. I’m Troy Harris, and I’m very excited to let you know that this is a wonderful day. This is the first day where I get to take you through the rest of my apartment, where I’m going to do an activity that I like to do in the morning, which I’m sure you do, too, which is have breakfast. Come along, let’s check it out.
Having breakfast is very important because what that does is give you fuel for the rest of the day. When you’re able to have that fuel, there’s no limit. You need to use that fuel, because what it is is it’s a representation of the flow of energy, how nothing is ever created, but it’s just passed on and received. So you want to be able to have that energy flow to you, and then you can use it to do whatever you want. And for us, we’re going to do things that are positive.
Now, as you can see, my kitchen is ready for me to create, and I’m going to go in here and grab my favorite breakfast potatoes.
First thing I do is I loosen up the potatoes. The kind I like best are potatoes. O’Brien.
All right. As we can see, this is the end of the bag, so somebody’s got to go grocery shopping. Now, my skillet is nice and clean. I’m going to warm it up, and I’m going to use this wooden spoon so I can break up any frozen pieces. If they don’t break up all the way, that’s okay, because as it heats up, it’ll loosen up and let that sit there for a while.
Now, for me, when my breakfast is cooking, one of the things that I like to do is get nice and loose so I could be stretched out and ready for the day. So I stand here in my living room and I twist like this, moving my arms side to side. And then I start going through. My stretching routine starts with arm circles. Get those arm circles going.
And then I start to stretch my right arm across my body towards the left. Then I stretch my left arm across the body towards the right. Then I reach over top, grab that elbow over my head on the right arm, like so, and then do the same thing with the left arm, like so.
That gets the shoulders nice and loose. It’s early in the morning, so I got to be loose because I have a whole day ahead of me. And then I reach down in pike position, touch my toes, stretch out those hamstrings. They get so tight overnight because all day, all your life, you’re running. You’re using those legs as the base.
So they take a lot of the brunt of the force because there’s some weight above it.
This is all true. Regardless of how slim or strong or large you might be, these are insignificant factors. If you got a stand, then you got some weight that your legs need to support, and therefore, you need to loosen them up. All right,
