  • Stranger In The Park

Today's NaPodPoMo's MindFULL Musing is an off-the-cuff conversation with a man I see almost everyday when I do my daily walk. During the pandemic when we weren't able to see our nearest and dearest, I'd see this man and after awhile, I started to notice him around town. One day I saw him at FedEx and there we laughed and introduced ourselves. Now, if I don't see him in the park, I worry.

    Who do you see around?

Here is the MindFULL conversation, Strangers On A Plane, that inspired me to notice who I see!

  • NFTs for Real

Today's NaPodPoMo MindFULL Musing is a quick revisit to the confusing world of NFTs. After the episode Mothers and Daughters and NFTs, Oh My... many of you mentioned how much you enjoyed it and some said, "I still don't get it".

Hopefully, this MindFULL Musing will bring it real.

  • Souper Sunday

Today's NAPODPOMO's MindFULL Musing is my new made up tradition, Souper Sunday! It's November and we just turned the clocks back. The days are gonna be shorter and colder, so today I'm musing on how to warm my insides. Below is a recipe I refer to in the episode: Jane's Butternut Squash and Leek Soup. I also suggest coming up with an intention to set for the week. Let us know if you try to do both!

    Butternut Squash and Leek Soup

    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 4 leeks with and tender green parts only, coarsely chopped
    • 1 celery rib, chopped
    • 1 garlic clove smashed
    • 1 quart chicken stock
    • 1 large butternut squash peeled and cut into 12 inch dice (3 cups)
    • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
    • 1 large bay leaf
    • Sea salt and freshly ground pepper
    • 14 cup flat leaf parsley leaves
    • Cream or milk is optional  (almost never use)
    1. Melt the butter in a large heavy saucepan. Add the leeks, celery and garlic and cook over moderate heat, stirring occasionally until softened.
    2. Add the stock, squash, tomato paste an bay leaf. Season with salt and pepper and simmer over moderately low heat until all the vegetables are tender about 25 minutes. Discard bay lea. You can leave in or remove the parsley.
    3. Puree the soup.  Taste for seasoning.

  • Out With The Old

This NAPODPOMO MindFULL Musing continues along the theme, "What do you do with something you inherit, but don’t really want?" Either you try and get your sibling to take it or you re-create it into something you love. Listen in and think about what you have that you might re-purpose into something that adds a new twist to an old item.  Visit us on IG and maybe post a picture!

  • November Episode Challenge NAPODPOMO

For the month of November, instead of sharing an episode on MindFULL Mondays, I've been challenged to share 5 episodes everyday, Monday-Friday! That's a big deal for a newbie like me, but with your support, I can do it! Each day, I will share a 5ish minute MindFULL Musing. Please let me know what you like, what you don't like and if there is anything you'd like to hear more of. This is a continuation of my grand experiment. I hope you will join me!

  • Finding Peace, One Piece At A Time

Join us for Part 2 with Rachel Kodanaz, author of Living with Loss One Day at a Time as we move along the spectrum to Finding Peace, One Piece at a Time. In this episode, Rachel talks to us about being a family member charged with the responsibility of dealing with the possessions of a loved one who has passed, or helping folks right-size or down-size. With her can-do compassionate attitude, Rachel shares real world practical' advice, instruction and insight. She helps us reframe cleaning to clearing, and actually leaves us with a MindFULL approach to a task we all face, with curiosity and peace.

    Takeaways:

    1. If you are helping someone down size or right size, and are facing a lot of “stuff” you can start the process by asking 2 questions:
      1. Does it tell a story?
      2. Does it provide a connection?
    2. Don’t wait for someone to be sick or pass before having a conversation about the things they have that matter to them. Get curious and ask for the story behind the item.
    3. Rachel has 3 words for you: Sorting. Thinning. Repurposing

  • Living With Loss - Part One

She is so full of wisdom, I had to do a TWO Part Series with Rachel Kodanaz, author of “Living with Loss One Day at a Time”.  This week, Rachel joins us to talk about embracing life’s challenges. Overcoming her own adversity of being widowed at 31 years old with a 2-year-old daughter, Rachel shares her down to earth, insightful, and practical advice for living with loss. As a motivational speaker, author, grief consultant, and facilitator, Rachel tells us what can be helpful. In Part Two, we will talk about clearing out physical objects. You will want to hear it all!

    Takeaways:

    1. Humans simply need to be felt and understood. They don’t want or need to be fixed. Just listen.
    2. We can’t change what happens to us so we have to figure out what we can do to go forward. How? Rachel gives 365 days of tips to help.
    3. Don’t ask. Just do (for the person).
