“Faith in God Throughout Human History”
Pastor Hiroyuki Anjiki
1. The genealogy tells the story
2. The history of Shem
* Genesis 11:14 “Eber” = to cross over, to go across a boundary
(Abel was the one to become the ancestor of the Hebrew people)
* Genesis 11:16 “Peleg” = to divide (During his era, the Tower of Babel incident occurred)
* Genesis 11:26 “Terah” = The father of Abraham
* Acts 7:2-4 “To this he replied: “Brothers and fathers, listen to me! The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham while he was still in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Harran. ‘Leave your country and your people,’ God said, ‘and go to the land I will show you.’ “So he left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Harran. After the death of his father, God sent him to this land where you are now living.” (NIV)
3. The way to Jesus Christ
* 1 Corinthians 15:3-5 “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve.” (NIV)
Thoughts to share at mini church:
1. What do you think this genealogy is telling us?
2. Review the genealogy from Shem to Abraham.
3. What is the relationship between this genealogy and Jesus Christ’s genealogy?
