  • Episode 16: “The Flintstones & WWE: Stone Age Smackdown!”
Happy Wrestlemania weekend, ScreenTeam! The OTVS crew is back again at Faultline Studios to go in — caveman-style — on the WWE’s second animated feature film, The Flintstones & WWE: Stone Age Smackdown! In what can only be described as the most cleverly-disguised attack on kayfabe (as well as the most on-point indictment of the business), ever, this movie forces the crew’s hand in questioning the shameless class warfare between cavemen and dinosaurs, the origins of a Vandal Savage-esque immortal in Vince McMagma/McMahon, and what happens when a young Marc Abrigo’s dreams come true, and he’s propositioned by WWE Hall of Famer, Tammy Lynn Sytch, for some good ol’ sexy timez on Twitter.

Did You Know? According to IMDB, the characters of Fred and Wilma Flintstone were the first married couple, ever, to be actually seen in bed together on U.S. television. Incidentally on American TV, Vince McMagma was the first character to make his wife crawl around on her hands and knees like a dinosaur.

  • Episode 15: “See No Evil 2”
And we’re back, good people of the OTVS Universe! Pull your blankets in tight, ’cause the WWE Cinematic Universe is returning to some of its horror roots when Jacob Goodnight dusts off his hooks and chains for another go-around in See No Evil 2! In this sequel, Kane trades in an abandoned hotel for a hospital? A morgue? Whatever this place is, the gang (with Annie, in her last show with OTVS — cue sad face) buckles down and discusses what constitutes proper etiquette when working with the dead, the notion of Kane working as a contractor for Taskrabbit, and whether Paolo can have a proper menage a trois if both his body and soul are involved. Sound weird? That’s because it is.
Let’s give Annie a proper send-off and SUBSCRIBE to the crew on iTunes (and leave a rating or a review for us, por favor), LIKE us on Facebook and FOLLOW the show on Twitter for updates on everything OTVS and WWE Studios.
Did You Know? According to that pesky IMDB, Will’s (Greyston Holt) wardrobe was purposefully designed to mirror Bruce Campbell’s of “Evil Dead,” whereas Tamara’s (Katherine Isabelle) make-up was fashioned after Dakota Block’s from “Planet Terror.” This is to remind you that those were movies that this movie could have been.

  • Episode 14: “That’s What I Am”
Evening, ScreenTeam! After a week of scheduling snafus and uncooperative editing software, On This Very Screen is BACK with a movie the L.A. Times described as a “captivating and nostalgic coming-of-age dramedy,” and Paolo Sambrano described as “an excuse for a middle school reunion” — That’s What I Am. Starring Hollywood vet, Ed Harris, this oddly unfocused flick takes us back to 1965 where a young eighth-grader befriends a school outcast and learns about dignity and tolerance — all while calling his teacher “a homo.” Once we’re dialed in, the gang takes bets on who this movie is actually trying to follow, Marc recounts his own bullying experiences into a charming anecdote affectionately dubbed “Titty Coins,” and Paolo explains why a movie inspired by true events doesn’t necessarily means it’s entertaining.

Did You Know? Michael Pavone, writer and director of this film (and producer of eight WWE Studios movies) took over as executive VP of the studio in 2009 after serving as a creative consultant to both WWE’s Raw and Smackdown shows the year before, proving definitively that — with enough hard work — one can fail upward.

  • Episode 13: “The Day”
A WWE Studios movie without a wrestler?! It’s true, it’s true, and on episode thirteen here at On This Very Screen, Corey Schroeder is back with us as we go in hard on WWE’s post-apocalyptic siege flick, The Day, starring Lost’s Dominic Monaghan, A Knight’s Tale’s Shannyn Sossamasonicon, and X-Men‘s Shawn Ashmore! In this show, the gang discusses proper attire when traversing the wasteland, what happens when your villain is a South African warlord with a Mexican accent, and this movie’s total insistence that sometimes, you just need to murder a child. Did I mention that Marc loves Animorphs?

Did You Know? Though we casually refer to him as “Mohawk” during the show, the somewhat forgettable actor who plays “Father” in this movie is apparently a WWE Studios all-star, having roles in “The Day,” “The Marine 3: Homefront,” and “See No Evil 2.” Fingers crossed he takes over for Triple H in the “Chaperone” franchise later this year.

  • Episode 12: “The Rundown”
Finally, On This Very Screen has come back… to the interwebz! Oh, our dear ScreenTeam, the gang is back with their first episode of 2016 and we go in guns a-blazin’ as we tackle the supremely funny and criminally underrated action/comedy, The Rundown. Starring Dwayne Johnson and Seann William Scott (with some great help in Rosario Dawson and Christopher f’ing Walken), THIS is the film that every WWE Studios movie should aspire to, bar none, as you’ll hear in this glowing review from Marc, Annie, and Corey (pinch-hitting for Paolo). Also in this episode, you’ll find out what a movie’s gotta do to make Marc feel uncomfortable, the logic behind getting your fiancé to watch WWE Christmas movies, and the absolute worst way possible to flirt with Annie. Hint? It’s really, really racist.

Did You Know?  That “thunder and lightning” bit? A total joke, according to Seann William Scott. But according to IMDB, Stifler’s improv about his fighting skills was so entertaining, that it HAD to stay in. Now, if only he could do something about that second “n” in his first name…

  • Episode 11: “Santa’s Little Helper”
‘Tis the season, ScreenTeam, and this holiday, On This Very Screen is proud to review the WWE’s latest attack in its War on Christmas, Santa’s Little Helper! Marc and Annie find themselves opposite Paolo on this flick, but it’s a fun show, nonetheless! Assisted by the apparently hideous North Pole elf, Billie (Nip/Tuck’s AnnaLynne McCord), Dax “The Axe” Ardwick (Miz) finds himself in direct competition with another elf, Eleanor (Paige), over the position of Santa’s own, personal Hand of the King — the “Ho-Ho Ho” (seriously) . Moreover, the gang marvels at the WWE’s attempt at reverse-sexism, the issues of racism and body-shaming plaguing Santa’s workshop,  and an obstacle course set piece with all the excitement and magic of a flailing sea cow. Put down your red Starbucks cups, nerds, and get ready for a real holiday controversy.
Ho-ho-holy shit, what a polarizing movie. What’d you think, ScreenTeam? Let us know at [email protected], SUBSCRIBE to the gang on iTunes (and leave a rating or a review for us, if you please), LIKE us on Facebook and FOLLOW the show on Twitter for updates on everything WWE Studios.
Did You Know?  During the scene with the Miz in the retirement home, we find that the seniors are watching an episode of E!’s “Total Divas” — absolutely confirming the torture many of our senior citizens face at these privatized hell holes.

  • Episode 10: “No Holds Barred”
Holy milestone episode, ScreenTeam! On This Very Screen celebrates its tenth episode with the 1989 Hulk Hogan epic and WWE Studios prototype, No Holds Barred! As you can imagine, Paolo and Marc have their work cut out for them when Annie tags in special guest, OJ Patterson of Courting Comedy and Super Trashed Bros! Together, these three smarks let the wrestling references fly while examining the real inspiration behind ECW, the idea of Hulk Hogan literally scaring the shit out of somebody, and whether or not this flick was just one elaborate rib on the “Macho Man” Randy Savage. We also unveil the newly-christened “Nation of Domination Racial Sensitivity” award, and as well as OTVS’s first contest to win a free copy of “WWE 2K16!” Listen now!
Is No Holds Barred really a cyberpunk movie, as Paolo says? Sound off at [email protected] to let us know, SUBSCRIBE to the gang on iTunes (and leave a rating or a review for us, if you please), LIKE us on Facebook and FOLLOW the show on Twitter for updates on everything WWE Studios.
Did You Know?  In an ill-fated effort to promote this dreck, Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister was brought in to the WWF as his character from the movie, Zeus. The problem, naturally, was he wasn’t actually a professional wrestler — unlike Robocop, whose WCW cameo was kind of the best thing, ever.

  • Episode 09: “The Marine 3: Homefront”
You’ve dialed into episode nine of On This Very Screen, where the gang trades in Paolo (on a much deserved vacation) for returning special guest and OTVS ringer, Corey Schroeder, in our own “Tribute to the Troops” — The Marine 3: Homefront! Taking the reins from John Cena and Ted Dibiase Jr., Mike “The Miz” Mizanin is on the hunt for his kidnapped sister against, legitimately, the best villain in a WWE Studios film to date — NEAL MCDONOUGH! You ready for irredeemable millennials, the worst siege ever caught on film, and big bads with a thousand percent more likability and sympathy than their heroic counterparts?  Then,  hoo-goddamn-rah — this is the movie for you!

Did You Know? In a twist that I can only attribute to internet trolls on Wikipedia, the original lead for the third “Marine” entry was apparently set for — get this — BOB HOLLY.  Okay, that’s it. The only thing worse than a WWE film starring Hardcore Holly, is the fact we didn’t get a WWE film starring Hardcore Holly.

  • Episode 08: “Bending The Rules”
On the eighth episode of On This Very Screen,  the gang sets its sights on WWE Studios’ trainwreck of a buddy-cop movie, the incomprehensible, tangent-filled labyrinth that is Bending The Rules. Even WITH our favorite kazoo-wielding Canadian on the marquee, Edge,  this movie was B-R-utal to get through — so much so, that we get one of the realest and most heated rants we’ve ever recorded from the returning Annie on misogyny in WWE Studios films. Furthermore, we explore what a buddy-cop movie is supposed to be when it doesn’t have action or comedy, how not to handle the sensitive subject of police corruption and brutality, and most of all, our potentially game-changing theory on New Orleans’ significance within the WWE Cinematic Universe.

Did You Know? Adam “Edge” Copeland is one of a handful of wrestlers to play non-wrestling roles in film, basic cable (SyFy’s “Haven”), and a major network show (CW’s “The Flash”). No surprise, he’s been shot at in all three roles — no doubt by an incognito Matt Hardy.

  • Episode 07: “Scooby-Doo! Wrestlemania Mystery!”
In episode seven of On This Very Screen, the ScreenTeam (sans Annie — get well soon, dear!) and the addition of mega-hilarious Comic Vine podcaster, Corey Schroeder, join forces with Mystery Incorporated to solve the case of the Fiery-Ghost-Bear! Alright, lame name for a monster, but hey — this fearsome bastard’s out to ruin WrestleMania, and it’s up to Scoob and the gang to solve the case! Among other burning questions — when did Vince McMahon become the leader of his own city? Why does Sin Cara speak in Spanish acoustic guitar? And what does any of this have to do with lesbian Sailor Scouts?! All this and more when Paolo, Marc, and Corey buckle up for Scooby-Doo! Wrestlemania Mystery!

Did You Know? Recognize the voice of Shaggy? Of course you did! Reprising the role from both the live-action movies and Mystery Inc.’s newest cartoon — Be Cool, Scooby-Doo — is the Cereal Killer, himself, Matthew Lillard! Still missing the braided pigtails, bruh. You slippin’.
