  • S2:E1 Jess Ngan and Sambika Easwaranathan

What better way to start off this new adventure than with not one, but two very special guests. Let us introduce you to our very own MUBES alumni - Sam and Jess, the president and vice president of MUBES 2023. Sam and Jess have just recently graduated from Masters of Biomedical Engineering and are both working at KPMG, and they’re here to share their stories for how they got to where they are today, and hopefully help us navigate the uncharted waters of this incredible industry.

  • 12. End of Year Wrap Up

This week I’m joined by Gaurav Pahuja and Johnathan (Johnno) Need, the new Undergraduate Representative and Marketing Officer of the 2024 MUBES Committee, respectively. These guys have volunteered to continue the podcast next year and I am so grateful to them for doing so. In this episode, the tables have turned, as the boys interview me. We also wrap up on the year that was and discuss what is in store for the podcast in the future.

A personal thank you to everyone who listened to the podcast this year. It has been a dream of mine to be able to do this and I couldn't be more grateful for the support I have received. I'm excited to see what the boys do with it next year, so stay tuned!

  • 11. Prof Leigh Johnston

Leigh is Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and the Director of the Melbourne Brain Centre Imaging Unit in the Department of Radiology.  Leigh studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science as an undergraduate and did a PhD in statistical signal processing. After a few years wandering around in the research wilderness, Leigh fell into the world of neuroscience and brain imaging and hasn’t looked back.  We had a great chat about where her passions stemmed from,  as well as the current status of student engagement in academia.

DISCLAIMER: Apologies for the audio from my end, turns out my microphone wasn't connected properly after spending 20 minutes trying to sort it out

  • 08. Dr. Ewan Nurse

Ewan is the Director of Epilepsy Research at Seer Medical, and an honorary senior fellow at the University of Melbourne. He has a background in Biomedical Engineering, having completed his Masters and a PhD at UniMelb. With this year being the 10th anniversary of MUBES, it was fitting we had a chat with the inaugural president and one of the co-founders of the club. He is passionate about neurology and is interested in helping people with neurological conditions using technology. It was a very interesting episode as we discussed his career, his uni experience, and the creation of MUBES.
