  • Ve Shawn Owens talks about his bizarre boxing match in Mexico
In this episode, highly ranked Minnesota boxer Ve Shawn Owens (14-4, 12 KOs) discusses his strange experience on a Dec. 2, 2023, boxing card in Mexico. Owens went into the ring thinking he was fighting an exhibition. But that’s not how it played out. In the 8th round, the referee stopped the “fight” after Owens was hit on the back of the head, giving his opponent the “win.” Roughly six weeks later, boxrec.com posted the fight as a TKO loss for Owens — a highly questionable blemish on the Minnesota boxer’s record. Owens hasn’t said much publicly about the bizarre events of Dec. 3 — until now. In addition, Owens breaks the news about his relocation plans, and talks about his recent eye surgery. Hear all about it in this wide-ranging interview, which kicks off the 5th season of the Minnesota Fight Night podcast. Bonus content: Owens and the guys talk a little hoops, with a focus on the NBA Western Conference-leading Minnesota Timberwolves! Intro music: “Ali Shuffle,” by the Toler/Townsend Band.
