Quite a week for Trump. He finally left the country to attend the funeral for the Pope and his mere presence and lack of decorum was the talk of the event. So far, even Fox News, who you'll recall damn near declared the end of our Republic when Obama wore a tan suit, and blasted the leader of the free world Volodymyr Zelensky for not wearing a jacket and tie in the Oval Office, said nothing about the blue suit and tie. Speaking of the media...in what should have been the top story of the month, if not week, was a one news cycle thing. The 60 Minutes Executive Producer Bill Owens has resigned under corporate pressure. The reasons should make our blood boil. But will anything beyond the price of groceries make our blood boil these days?

Once again, another week in the books and more evidence that we are dealing with something in this country that we've never faced before. Legal residents are being snatched off of our streets and 'disappeared'. And if that alone isn't enough to cause extreme outrage, Federal Courts and even a unanimous Supreme Court rulings that the Trump administration must get them back are ignored. This is the point that we've never crossed in our history. People are outraged. Hundreds of thousands are demonstrating in cities and towns in every state and in countries across the globe. That is the good news. But it's also the bad news, as no doubt that these demonstrations will be the impetus for Trump to declare a national emergency and suspend elections. Lest you think that this is hyperbole, did you ever imagine that we'd be where we already are? How long until the inevitable violence occurs? Who could have seen all of this coming? Well, it turns out that Bernie Sanders was among those who saw it coming. We share.

War planning in a group text chat, military threats to Greenland and Denmark, the Commander in Chief having no idea that 4 of our service members are missing in Lithuania. We are facing incompetence at Monty Python levels in this country.

Not so long ago, the attitude was that "it can't happen here". This is the United States of America! The beacon for Democracies world wide! The greatest nation ever conceived! American exceptionalism! Well, in two short months, we now know that indeed it CAN happen here...it HAS happened here. Now, there are signs that perhaps a sleeping giant of sorts has been awakened due to the assault on our institutions and people are waking up. It would be wise for those who consider themselves our "Rulers" to take note that the historical reaction to despotic authoritarian rule and the often violent end that many of those historical "Rulers" met can also "happen here". Across the nation and world, reactions are growing louder and more pointed. We share some of the sounds of this reaction on this edition of Minyard & Minyard do the resistance. It's time that we all DO SOMETHING!

We are not a trustworthy people or nation. After witnessing the obscene way in which the Trump team treated the President of our ally Ukraine on Friday, it is clear that Trump and his cronies are working for someone other than the American people and the principles of democracy. Not only has the world reacted in outrage and horror, it is the American people, our economy and standing in the world that will ultimately suffer. As his support erodes - not only around the world - but here at home, look for a repeat of history -- our Reichstag fire event that will be meant to rally the people to the authoritarian's cause and result in a premise to declare Martial Law and who knows...suspend elections? It may come in the form of a well timed explosion that can be blamed on "our enemies". It may be an assassination of some un-needed red state elected officials who would be seen as "dying for the cause". And look for the 2026 elections to be under stress like we have never seen. We are at a tipping point in this country, make no mistake. It is up to us to do something about this.
