“make someone humble” = အပိုးကျိုးအောင် လုပ်သည်, ပညာပြသည်→ “I will make you humble.”

“fear” as a verb (B2 level) = ကြောက်သည်→ “All his employees fear him.” / “I fear you, Victor. I always have.”

“carry the world on your back/shoulders” = ပူပန်စရာ၊ တာဝန်တွေ အများကြီး ထမ်းထားရသည်

“fit in” = အံဝင်ခွင်ကျ ဖြစ်သည်, အဆင်ပြေသည် (လူမှုအသိုင်းအဝိုင်းထဲမှာ)→ “Don’t think I fit in at this party.”

Meanings & examples:

• before something happens → “China unveils Shenzhou 22 mission patch ahead of Tuesday launch” = အင်္ဂါနေ့ လွှတ်တင်မှုမတိုင်ခင်
• earlier than → “China is 1:30 hours ahead of Myanmar”
• in front of / having advantage → “She is ahead of the other runners”

• Winter is coming = literally winter is near, or metaphorically “hard times are coming.”
• November comes – the harvest is done = proverb meaning the work is finished, and now it’s time to rest. Used figuratively for finishing big tasks (like after exams).

• Alone = by yourself (neutral meaning).
• All alone = completely alone, usually emotional or sad.
• Living the dream = having the life you always wanted; being in a perfect situation.

Make = results/outcomes (make a decision, make a promise, make a mistake).
• Do = actions/processes (do business, do homework, do the laundry).
• Do a mistake is incorrect → must say make a mistake.

Hand to God = “I swear to God.” Used when you want to show you’re telling the truth seriously.
• Back off = move away / don’t interfere.
• Fella = old word for “man,” now also used for “boyfriend.”
• “Back off of my fella” = stay away from my boyfriend.

Draw doesn’t only mean “ပန်းချီဆွဲသည်.” It also means “to attract attention.”
• Example: “China’s carbon market development draws global attention.”
• Slash means “reduce / cut down.”
• “AI will slash headcount” = AI will reduce the number of workers.
• Headcount = number of people.
