Talk to parents or people that are where you want to be

Evaluate who’s giving you advice.

Help them make informed decisions.

Be ok if they don’t choose your favorite decisions, as long as you see that made an informed decision.

If they don’t make an informed decision, let them know what the consequences may be. And live with it.
