Welcome to the “Missing” podcast, a true-crime series that tells the stories of missing people who never got the coverage they deserved, with some cases dating back to the 1970s.
Investigative reporter Kristin Thorne’s mission to tell these stories began on Sept. 13, 2021, the first day she covered the disappearance of Gabby Petito for Channel 7 Eyewitness News in New York, and met with her distraught parents on Long Island. The story consumed the next two months of her life.
Kristin started to examine databases of missing people and as she scrolled past the hundreds of faces, she thought about not only those people but their families and friends and the ripple effect of pain that was caused when they disappeared.
She thought, "Maybe I can help?" Maybe, with a series devoted to these missing people, she could get those loved ones what they so deeply needed: Answers.
Every single victim and every single family deserves justice -- and that's the mission of this series.
Listen to “Missing” wherever you get your podcasts and help spread awareness – and give voice to the forgotten.
