Months after his betrayal and disappearance, Charles Smoot and Finavir Avir finally found John-Xavier. Claiming that all his actions were for the best outcome of those involved, John seemed to garner some sympathy with our party. Though he remains on thin-ice in certain ways, they have decided to give him another chance. A chance to prove himself as a Rescuer. But with the night growing late and their meeting with John drawing to a close, they will need to find a place to lay low for the time being.

Charles and Finavir have been reunited, although not in the way they intended. The Far Traveler's rescue set them back to the moment where "everything went wrong." But as a consequence of the Far Traveler's intercession, we now follow neo-Charles and Finavir; duplicates in this singular world. The events of their past selves have already occurred. And it is certain that the lives of the originals will end in the same tragic way. Unless something changes. But a warning was given to the two confused heroes. Charles Smoot successfully enacted the beginning of his plan. After disposing of Captain Brandt, Seraphius was able to take over leadership of the red guard encampment. With the men now under control, it would be easy to plant the explosives without interference. But as Charles Smoot went to fetch the explosives, he came across a very strange boatsman. With the ominous ally ferrying him across the river, Charles is just about ready to light the fuse.

With Seraphius at his side, Charles Smoot found it much easier to navigate around the constrictive authority of the Red Guard and Captain Brandt. And with more freedom to explore, the location of the Seeker's Vault soon revealed itself. The cliff-side lodge was merely a ruse, while the true Wolf's Lodge resided at the base of the cliffs. Venturing into the secret base, Charles discovered a hidden reliquary where he found an object he believes just might be what the Red Guard have been searching for. Now Charles and Seraphius are beginning to hatch their plan, but first, they must handle Captain Brandt and his soldiers.
