Stock markets crash, savings accounts dry up, and nobody gets to take anything beyond the grave. But, there's one investment strategy that never fails, and its yield lasts forever. This Sunday, we'll learn what it means to be an eternal shareholder in the kingdom of God.

For millennia, Christians have long waited for the glorious return of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Although the exact time of Christ's return is not known, God saw fit to give us a glimpse into the events that will precede the second coming of our Lord. This week, we take a look at all that's transpired in 2020 that brings us ever closer to the return of the King.

While the Apostle John was imprisoned on the isle of Patmos, the ascended and glorified Christ directed him to send a series of short letters (or “postcards”) to seven churches in Asia Minor. The first “postcard” (Revelation 2:1-7), written to the church at Ephesus, is a blend of words of commendation and words of correction from the living Word. Christ commends the church at Ephesus for its commitment to truth and doctrinal orthodoxy, while also calling out the Ephesian church for having left its first love—for Him. As we stand on the brink of 2021, this text will challenge our church to reflect not only on whether we are doctrinally sound in our beliefs, but to examine ourselves and reflect upon whether we have the love for Christ we had when we first came to known Him. This evening, we celebrate the miraculous moment where God's plan for the redemption of man began, with the birth of His beloved Son, Jesus. To truly celebrate this momentous occasion, we must come to grips with what we were saved from...our sin.

Having self-confidence, thinking highly of oneself, and showing one's pride are all virtues that modern day psychology teaches us are important to individuality. However, Christ modeled something else. When He had every right to force mankind to bow their knee, as being co-equal with God, He chose the form of a bond-servant. This Sunday, the apostle Paul describes the humility that Christians should model to one another, to their family, and to the world this Christmas season.
