Genesis 1:27 says that God created man and women in His image. This can be confusing because God is given a masculine pronoun, but claims that both men and women are created in His image. Most Bible translations also give the name of helper or helpmate to the woman in relation to the man. This also can give an impression of inferiority. As christians it's important that we hold to our values while not completely ignoring the world around us. We believe instead of being at odds, science has actually been proving the Bible correct for years. When it comes to evolution, although we believe the earth and everything in it was created by God, we can't ignore signs of life changing throughout history. We cover all of that and more including a possible explanation for the extinction of dinosaurs?

The story of Jonah concludes with one of the more confusing scenes from the entire narrative. The people of Nineveh have repented and God has decided not to destroy the city but Jonah is displeased. Although he clearly acknowledges many of God's wonderful attributes, he is so hyper focused on the fact that God did what he didn't want him to that he claims he would rather die. Sometimes in our lives we have this same microscope approach. We are so hyper focused on one thing that we don't want to happen, that we lose sight of all of the good surrounding us and the good attributes of God. Certainly we will face hardship and difficult seasons that are worthy of mourning and sadness, but God will always be gracious, merciful, and abounding in steadfast love.

Our vision at Mission City Church is to make Jesus known. In regards to abortion, we believe that means responding with compassion and empathy. We support as many viable pregnancies as possible finishing to full term including birth. We also understand that the birth of a child can be an incredibly challenging situation, especially in extreme circumstances. Our hope is that we would be a people that would choose to show the same love, mercy, and grace that we believe Jesus has shown to us.
