They support women experiencing menstrual puberty by collecting menstrual sanitary products for women who cannot afford them, which are essential for a safe life, especially for school-aged girls who miss school due to lack of these products. They have also donated products to the women in our centers. — Joe Pinto of Rethink Food, gets food from restaurants, eliminating food waste and providing quality food for our residents and homeless guests.

Roxanne Rowles from A House with Heart. They provide affordable, safe, and clean shared housing for people with credit problems, evictions, criminal records, or low incomes to secure safe housing. — Gussie Flynn from South Florida After School All Stars

Makissa Lewis of My Seester, Inc. They strive to open the communication on benefits as well as issues that concern the female veterans’ population. They also recognize the lack of programming that impact women and girls in South Florida, focusing their energy and resources on filling the void of resources for female veterans. — Nadleen Laleau, of 4KIDS (4KIDS.US). They bring hope, homes, and healing to kids and families in crisis across Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade counties. 4KIDS remains committed to redefining foster care with the support of the faith-based community.

Crystal Chester from Bethel Legacy 1322 (based on Proverbs 13:22) is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving people hope. They are always involved with homeless shelters; they intend to purchase property to provide a place for the homeless to live instead of living on the streets and to leave a legacy for future generations. — Shamele Jenkins. They take care of children who have been taken in by the state because they have suffered mental or sexual abuse or have been neglected and abandoned. Today “People pay more attention to a homeless dog and cat than to a child”

Dr. Jacqueline Del Rosario, ReCapturing the Vision International (RTV) is focused on providing support for at-risk youth to succeed in environments lacking supportive structures to promote their success. Our vision is one in which every child has an opportunity to succeed. RTV offers an array of comprehensive programs and services focused on character development, healthy relationship education, family mentoring, counseling, and case management services, along with referrals for medical, behavioral health, and academic services.

Elizabeth Montero. Volunteer. Advocate for the happiness of children. She helps organize events with the CoverGirls focus group at The Caring Place and also motivates mothers. She is also a real estate and loan broker, providing her clients with a knowledgeable experience. — Liz Espinosa, leader of the Girlfriends 4 Girlfriends focus group at The Caring Place. They organize events to help and follow up with women and their children who are no longer at the Center for Women and Children. She is also a real estate agent.

Angel Arroyo: He spoke about his time as a resident in the Broward Outreach Centers where his entire life was changed . Now he is the proud owner of his own business

Dieulene Jeanlouis from Earthly Doula. They provide community resources to mothers and families in need, as well as counseling or therapy should a mother need it, especially during pregnancy. They also organize events to educate and keep families safe. Damian Martinez of FORT International. They are local providers of business to business wholesale distribution supplies mainly targeting hospitality, health care and academies. They provide their own scholarship program for students in an effort to help those who pursue higher education. They are The Caring Place Thanksgiving sponsors and donated almost 2000 meals.

Haller Mitchell, a staff member at The Caring Place. Thirteen years ago, he was homeless and addicted to drugs. He tried various programs without much success. He came to The Caring Place, where he graduated and began an internship in food service. Eventually, he was offered a position, which he has held for nine years.

Gesulla Cavanaugh, PhD, Research Director, Nova Southeastern University, talks about why she teaches nutrition at BOC and her visits to other shelters. — Jelea Butler, former program client who graduated from The Caring Place, Broward. She later obtained a security license and a job. She returns to the center from time to time to make a donation because she knows how important this type of support is.
