September 20, 2022 Kevin Bednarz (Delta Bravo Urban Exploration Team. Entrepreneur. Artist)
My man Kevin Bednarz is the guest on Episode 011 of Mission Statements. I first met him in June of 2019 at the "All Star Comic Con" in Virginia, an event he put together. A member of the Delta Bravo Team, an owner of three establishments that happen to be sponsors of the show and an incredible artist.
We talk locations, conventions and we steer into horror and serial killer stuff. Why are we so interested in things like maniacs and murderers? We speak on his annual "Inktober" art work and this year's charity, the Stillbrave Childhood Cancer Foundation... who benefited from the proceeds this year.
I stopped in Purcellville, Virginia towards the end of my road trip in July, ate and chopped it up for a while. We touch on a topic we've been casually throwing around from time to time and hopefully sooner rather than later, myself, Kevin and a couple two, three other people will pull the trigger and make it come to fruition.

I learned about him and his charity through his good friend and fellow Delta Bravo Team member Kevin Bednarz. Episode 010 has dropped everywhere. Andrew Katz in another MVP member of the Delta Bravo Team. Between the previous episode and this one, we combined for about five hours of conversation. With that being said, we could easily have gone on for another couple. Besides being a member of the team, he's a painter and an art teacher in Maryland. He's an encyclopedia on the Golden Era of Hip-Hop and it seems he's the "hip-Hop" guy on the team. We go into that, and realize that's not really the case... at all.
He has hit numerous spots overseas. He's recently hit spots in London, Paris, Chicago and New York City... all within a month. He breaks down some of his missions on those trips such as the location where the "baseball bat" scene was filmed in "The Untouchables" and the scene where Hannibal Lecter escapes in "The Silence of the Lambs". This was, as always a lot of fun to do. I hope you enjoy.

Andy asked if he can interview me (Jimmy Ferrari) about the eight day road trip that had taken place that spanned thirteen different cities and towns in Texas, to five cities in Oklahoma, Arkansas, a couple in Tennessee, several in Virginia into Washington DC. 2,867 miles driving. 170 mashes and tons of lifelong memories and experiences.

Danny Johnson is one of the MVP's on the Delta Bravo Urban Exploration Team who has hit locations that are spread out all over the country. He completely "gets" what this entire thing that we do is really all about. The personal experiences and feelings some of us get when we set out to find locations to visit. The feeling we get when after researching, doing the leg work, sometimes overcoming obstacles, whether it's personal time, physical objects such as walls, gates and areas in the middle of nowhere with no actual address attached and you find the spot... finally. The mash at the end is just the byproduct of a mission and the commitment to a passion project that leaves an unexplainable feeling that you'll never forget when that particular mission is complete. It was a lot of fun choppin' it up with him. Enjoy!

We start out talking a little bit about Worcester, Massachusetts and the palladium and as with previous episodes, we go into how he met up with Danny Boy, how weird phone calls were made in order to gain access to hit certain spots.
We talk about him being a janitor, something I was for eight years as well and why he decided to throw his hat into the ring and become a stand-up comedian.

Delta Bravo Philly! Joe Schellinger is definitely up there on the list of genuine, good guys. One of the rare genuinely selfless people I've had the pleasure to become friends with. He goes back to 1992 and the impact that "House of Pain" had on him, meeting Danny Boy, and getting involved with the Delta Bravo Team.
I try to drive the point home that the end result of all of the research, studying, travelling and finally finding an elusive location is the photo posted online of the "mash". There's always so much backstory to the missions the team goes on. We all have varying experiences when we go out and hit spots and use that time for whatever suites our personal needs. Joe's no different and tells great stories about his missions. Some of my personal favorite hits are ones that he hit.
A truly nice guy who is always looking out for the TEAM. "Give a good day". Enjoy!
