This week we will jump into a journey of 1 Peter and a church that was persecuted and scattered. Their Identity from a worldly perspective had been destroyed. Through the Holy a Spirit, Peter penned 1 Peter 1:1-2 to bring the church back to their identity in Christ.

Change is one of the most difficult things we face in our lives. Especially when we don’t have a solid foundation to stand on. Being a disciple is difficult. In fact Jesus says it requires our life. During the journey of following Jesus there are trials, sufferings, disappointments, and various hardships. In 2 Timothy 4:1-8 we find the spiritual foundation for being a life long disciple as Paul encourages his disciple Timothy with some final words before his martyrdom. This weekend we continue in our series called Equipping the Church. In this series we are focused on the Biblical purposes for the church. Why did Jesus start the church and what does he want us to accomplish? When the church forms, in the book of Acts, one thing that happens quickly is a community is formed. These new believers in Jesus start to spend time together and build relationships. This is called The Gathering and there is a strategy and a purpose to it.

In Acts 2:41 there are about 3000 adults who respond to Peter's message regarding Jesus. The following verse tells us what they began to do together. They devoted themselves to four things that make up Biblical Fellowship among believers. The Apostles teaching, Fellowship, Eating together, and prayer. This weekend we continue in our series called "Equipping The Church". Our focus is on the vision Jesus has for the church. What are we supposed to be doing? Our purpose is to accomplish what Jesus has called us to. We learned last week that we are called to reach the lost through sharing the gospel.

This week we learn that we are to create an environment of WORSHIP. Jesus, when asked what the greatest commandment was, answered, love God and love People. The summary of the law then is our attitude toward God and People. This is the heart of worship. Worshiping God draws us into loving Him and the people he created. God calls us to a life of Love and that love results in worship.

This Sunday we begin a series called Equipping the Church. We desire our church to be effective in the areas Jesus created us to produce fruit in. The key areas we should be effective in are important because they come from scripture and are what we should be focusing on as a church. Jesus is the head of the church and so we don't dictate what we should be doing but He does. What does Jesus want us to be focused on? How does He measure our effectiveness? This Sunday is Christmas Eve and the last weekend in our series called "Through Their Eyes". In this service we focus on the Christmas story through the eyes of Mary the mother of Jesus. God sent the angel Gabriel to bring a message to Mary, an invitation to become a part of God's story of redemption, forgiveness, hope and love. Mary had a choice to make, her response would determine her place in God's plan for the world. She could have had no idea all that her response would involve and how it would affect her life. But her response changed her life and altered the course of human history. Mary said Yes to God's plan for her life.

This weekend we continue in our Christmas Series called, THROUGH THEIR EYES. As we work our way to Christmas we are viewing the Christmas story through the eyes of those who lived it. This weekend we look through the eyes of the Shepherds. The shepherds were common people who were faithfully doing their job on the night Jesus was born. On guard duty, protecting their sheep, without warning an Angel appeared cutting the dark night with power and light. Soon the armies of heaven were on display as these messengers proclaimed to them the coming of the Messiah.

Once the Shepherds went to see Jesus they went throughout the small town of Bethlehem telling everyone what they had seen. I wonder what it was that convinced you that Jesus is real and that what the scriptures teach was actually going to play out in your life. What was it that caused you to be so amazed that you had to tell someone what had happened to you?

This weekend we continue in our Christmas series called "Through Their Eyes". In this series we are looking at the coming of Jesus through the eyes of different characters who lived the story. This week we will try to gain the perspective of the Wise Men who came from the East to see Jesus. Likely with information handed down from Daniel over 500 years before them, they were watching and waiting with anticipation for the arrival of this divine leader. Because they were watching, they saw his star in the sky and quickly set out to find him and Worship Him.

This response by gentile Astrologer/Priests is profound. Though Jesus is a King to the Jews these leaders travel far to see him, and they come to Worship! This should be our response as well. Jesus came to the Jewish people but as Matthew's gospel tells us at the end, his salvation is available to all the world. Will you come and worship him with us this weekend? Will you come with anticipation and expectation looking for the Messiah longing to worship him?

This weekend is the first weekend of the Christmas Series called, THROUGH THEIR EYES. This year we will be experiencing the Christmas story through the eyes of several different individuals who actually lived it out.

This first weekend we will view the arrival of Jesus the Son of God, through the eyes of his earthly human father, Joseph. Joseph was not Jesus' biological father due to the fact that Jesus was placed in Mary's womb by the Holy Spirit. This created an awkward situation for Joseph who was engaged to Mary and planning to be married. In Jewish culture Mary's pregnancy, by someone other than Joseph, would have been so disrespectful and shameful that because of it, the marriage would not have taken place.

Join us this weekend as we see the Christmas story through Joseph, a man who surrendered his plan to God's plan despite the cost.
