Imagine a world without the world wide web. This treasure trove of information, creation and sharing. We would not survive in a such place - it would be impossible. We often cross borders to find the type of music we love – and this, is what we want highlight in this mixtape, our mixtapes cover bits and pieces from all the corners of the world, and this one is no exception: Moon Boots from Cape Canaveral in Florida, our idol Roosevelt from German Cologne and Claude Violante from Paris (she has a vocal to die for!).

Remix is a good excuse to cross the borders - your soulmate and inspiration may not always be right next to you. We believe this is what swedish Claes Rosen must have noted when he made a bootlag of Marvin Gayes (Washinton, D.C.) immortal classic 'If This World Were Mine'. Likewise with US based Soul Clap that crossed the oceans and got british Rudimental to interpret his work. This mixtape shows how small we think the world is - especially when it comes to music within our field.

Music is like love; in the beginning you want it so bad that you end up exaggerating use of it, get enough of it and move forward - the magic is gone… Not forever though; small changes may wake the beauty, recall the magic and the addiction starts all over. The music industry knows about love and especially, they know how that they may recall the lost feeling with a remix, an edit version or a bootleg - frankly, it’s that simple. This repeated love is what this mixtape is all about.

First highlight of the 35th mixtape is Roux Spana and his reinterpretation of Moi Je’ indies track ‘Respire’. The polish boy Roux (who happen to be located in Denmark) has slowed down the track, made is soft and smooth - rewinding directly to dreams of wonderland. On the other hand, YOUNGr holds the play-button, playing double-speed and bringing Flight Facilities’ new classic “Down to Earth” up in the sky - twisting it the nu-disco way. Finally, you can look forward to transformations of other tracks made by our friends LeMarquis and Les Loups. Enjoy!

It is less than 24 hours after we played our last live-set - and nearly two weeks after the first. We have already acquired a taste for this and we are proud to announce a new adventure in the story of Borneland: we are now LIVE! Hopefully, this is only the beginning, because we simply cannot get enough of it.

Baldersvej 33 has a special place in our hearts. This is the home of our childhood. This house could accommodate everything and with our parents clearing obstacles on our way, there should be no doubt that this house is close to our hearts (funny, how you realise these things as the years go by).
Our father was constantly renovating the house; improving and optimising current solutions, developing new solutions following our needs – room for big parties, space for our instruments, cages for our rabbits and a hen house, room for football in the garden and a workshop where the sky was the limit. If anything was missing, or we for a short moment had a special need, we only had to say it out loud once, and he would make sure that our dreams would come true.
Our mother ensured that the setting was always perfect, and prepared us for every adventure: planning and organising, ensuring our “uniform” was clean and filling the fridge – no excuses for not being completely energised and ready to explore the world and its peculiarities. While balancing the pots, pans, waking us up in the morning, our mother taught us a lot of what we know about practical things, economics, finance, psychology, how to behave and the importance of courage and humility.
Our childhood home was the centre of possibilities and at the same time, centre of comfort and safety. A childhood at Baldersvej 33 with mum and dad as the perfect role models in every way – mixing technical ingenuity with creativity and perspective.

This mixtape holds all of the features from our childhood; the tracks are all picked with focus on the technical production, the harmony of the sounds, the smoothness of the shifts in sounds and the creativity embedded in the tunes – all tracks you just cannot get enough of – no matter if you’re playing football in the garden, swinging the saucepan in the kitchen or dancing your way through the weekend.

Spring is approaching - or actually, it's here. Today is officially the first day of spring 2015. In Denmark, spring is associated with sun, more fun and cleaning: spring cleaning! That is cleaning of the house, the basement and throwing out things we do not need. Also part of spring cleaning is clearance of the mental state of mind, getting rid of dirt, old habits and bad memories.

This months mixtape is called wrapped in words, and now you might wonder what all this wrapping is about ? And how does it relate to spring cleaning ?
Well, the outcome of spring cleaning is more space - both physically and mentally. We suggest that this new mental space is used to celebrate yourself, celebrate how good YOU are and stating exactly how good any outcome of your passion is. Do not wrap it in words, suppressing the importance and perfection of your passion - just let it out, celebrate it and enjoy it. Spring is here - let it out.

With valentines day slowly approaching, we thought we would dedicate this months remix to love. Not love in the classical “I can’t live and breath without someone”-love, but love to music, sounds, beats, rhythms and vocals. Originally, a lot of mix tapes were created to celebrate love and loved ones, they were dedicated to a specific person and only to be found on cassette or medias equivalent to this. Today, most mix tapes are available online through streaming, and all you need to fall in love is a wifi connection.

By the end of January we showed our love to music and creativity, by performing live at Henrik Silvius Fashion Show at Copenhagen City Hall. This experience reminded us, how important factors authenticity and love to music are. Authenticity is easily forgotten in the every day life where streaming a mix tape is just as easy as stepping into the metro, taking for granted that it arrives on time and takes you wherever you plan to go without disruptions. The days an old horse carriage pass by, you are reminded how things once was and how far we have come today. At the same time, the horse carriage can send you back in time, bring back memories you may have forgotten and make time pause for just a second or two.

We hope this mixtape can make you stop for a second or two, that you just for a moment feel love to the music and remind yourself how things once was: recorded on a cassette.

It may seem like a cliché, but we want to dedicate 2014 to this mixtape. 365 days have passed - another year in the story of Borneland (and the rest of the world for that matter) … Usually we are very strict on the deadline and distribution of our mix tapes: ALWAYS released the first day in the month, however, this month we will make an exception and distribute the last day of the year.

Through the past 365 days we have played over 174 gigs - approximately 488 hours. If you have a hard time relating to this, imagine 20 days and nights in our company, playing, spinning and enjoying the magic of music non-stop. Most of our jobs have been in clubs, 105 of them, to be exact - and the remaining 69 was equally split between festivals around the world and arrangements for companies. Looking back, 2014 has brought us experiences we only had hoped for - starting out be the release of our remix of Destiny’s child’s ‘Bug a Boo’ in January. Some of our other experiences are reflected in our mixtape’s;starting out by the release of our collaboration with Martinelli and Sophie Galphin on a remix of ‘You Could Be My Lover’ in January; the media covering our mix of Destiny’s Child’s ‘Bug a Boo’ in February; our love to for vocals in March; a reminder of youth and dreams in April; the key to our new studio in the centre of Copenhagen in May; a hymn to nature and dandelions in June; the celebration of Roskilde Festival in July; summer and festivals coming to an end in August; the ultimate hits in September; a little reflection on life and how the pieces fit perfectly together at the end in October and finishing November off by reminding ourselves (and you) of the muscles in your body.
We could keep on telling stories on the year 2014, because the list above is only a small part of the adventures of Borneland 2014. Now, we are looking into the year 2015 … and what to expect, hope for, dream of? The beauty of life is that you never know what will happen tomorrow or the day after for that matter.
Finishing off, we are celebrating the year 2014 by combining the best songs from this years mix tapes into one all time greatest 2014 hits. We hope you will have a blast at New Years Eve, and that you will enjoy this mixtape not only for nostalgic ’14 throwbacks, but also for new ’15 adventures.

The year is coming to an end. December, Christmas, New Years - it all makes the world a little bit more busy for just about 23 days and then it all stops… For three days everything closes down - the calmness takes over, Barry White reminds of us of a childhood with white christmas and Chris Rea accompanies us on our way home, and for a moment the past weeks of buying presents, endless hours of waiting, stressed out mothers and fathers buying underwear in the last minute, all fade away… Christmas is always a very busy time for us. The danish tradition of christmas lunch fills up our calendar; companies start requesting before summer and suddenly or calendar is packed with one christmas lunch after the other. It is a very special time, but especially this year has made us think about how we spend our time and which jobs we accept. Time is money, as they say - and this certainly is true, but how do you choose between time and money?
You need money to pay your bills, get food on the table and buy christmas presents - but you also need time… Time with your friends.. Time with your family… Time with the ones you really care about. You have probably done the same thing as we do sometimes; doing things for money because that seems to be “the right thing to do”. But at the end, you cannot really buy time for money, so how do you prioritise?

This year is special to us. Something big has happened - something that has not only changed our lives, but also the way we look at things. This year, for the first time in a decade or so, we will be celebrating christmas with a child. It may seem like a cliché, but having a child in your life really makes one consider, what life really is all about, what time is and what money is…
It is important to make the right choices, especially when it comes to the time you spend on work, duties and loved ones. This is a classic dilemma everyone faces, and in economics this is represented by the trade-off theory: The trade-off between time (or leisure) and money and work.

Coming back to this months mixtape; it’s the eleventh and thereby second last we will bring you this year. It is not packed with christmas tracks, but you might as well use it for your christmas shopping, your christmas lunch or a walk in the park … Have a wonderful December and you might as well start looking forward to the last mixtape of this year: it will be mind-blowing!

639 … That is approximately how many muscles you will find within the human body. Each and every one of them having their own function; all controlled by the functioning of your brain. Some are more important than others; the heart being one of the most important. The heart would not function without the remaining muscles in your body or the brain coordinating and signalling to each of the other muscles. This may seem easy but actually there is a very complicated and interesting system working inside you - a system that must be maintained and taken care of. In order to keep everything going and make it work together it is important to practice. Practice makes perfect as they say - we have preached this before, but will probably keep doing so forever, because what is perfect really? How do you actually practice? and why do you practice - what is the aim? and how do you practice if you do not know what perfect is?

An haute-couture designer would probably say, that it is important to workout, in order to keep your muscles small and long, whereas a bodybuilder would argue that heavy lifting is the way to achieve the so-called perfect outcome. Finally, you might say: Well I don’t work out because I want big or long muscles - I work out to stay healthy and keep my mind clear. Now you may ask yourself: what is all this muscle talk really about? Isn’t this irrelevant for this months mixtape and the music?
The answer is no. We work out every single day - or at least, our muscles and our mind are challenged every single day. Combining a mixtape is a way of making things work together, lifting a finger here, while putting a toe down there - and then somehow, just at the moment while standing in an odd position, everything is shaking and the mind is about to burst, we are there and the pieces work perfectly together - at least from our point of view.

A puzzle is a game, a problem, or a toy that tests a person’s ingenuity. In a puzzle, one is required to put pieces together, in a logical way, in order to arrive at the correct solution of the puzzle. If there is one thing in life you never grow too old to do must be collecting puzzles. As a child you collect puzzles picturing animals or your favorite Disney character, and at this point you are actually challenging your brain without even noticing. Growing older, it seems as if a puzzle is not only putting together small pieces of colour and paper, but also smaller or bigger situations in the everyday life. How do you get to work when it's pooring down and your umbrella is broken? How do you manage to get to two parties in one night? How do you match the numbers in your Sudoku? Or one of our puzzles; how do you put together ten tracks every month without one of them being unnecessary?

At the end, after having spent hours and hours, days and nights to fit the pieces - you walk away from it, get back, look at it, think … and then suddenly you just see it – during your morning run, in the shower or looking out the window in the train. You see the pattern and figure out how to fit the pieces perfectly. Sometimes life seems like a puzzle too, however, as opposed to a logical puzzle that has only one solution, the puzzles of life have several solutions. Sometimes you need help to figure it out – can be from a close friend, a family member or sometimes even from a total stranger. No matter how or who is helping you out, one thing is certain; it takes time to get it right …

Yet another month we have fitted the best from our collection into a picture perfect puzzle, so that every little sound matches the next.
