Edward Cope, a farmers son and classic underdog. Othniel Marsh, the intellectual, financially backed by Yale. Both men found themselves locked in an underhanded and often dangerous battle to find and discover the most Dinosaurs remains in the "Golden Age" of American history.
Each of the two men attempting to outdo the other in the field, resorting to bribery, theft, and often, destruction of the bones they were trying to collect. Each scientist also sought to ruin his rival's reputation with personal attacks in publications.
