Jesus clarifies God's intent in the 10 Commandments and how man "waters down" to meet his own needs. As Christians we must adhere and strive to obey God's expressed intentions of the law which are more demanding than we can achieve. We can only be Holy through the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

Jesus tells us that the Old Testament law is God's authoritative law, it will never pass away and must be completely obeyed. We can only be holy and righteous and completely obedient through the imputed righteousness of Christ.

A young wealthy ruler came before Christ with a question that everyone must answer at some point in their life - "What must I do to have eternal life?" In this passage we see that Jesus knows us so well He provides personal solutions to our inquiry. It is up to each of us individually to accept His solution.

It is not a matter of whether you are a light in the world or not. Jesus says you ARE the light of the world. The question is, does your light shine bright or is it dimmed by the distractions of the world.

Jesus tells us that a true follower of His IS the Salt of Earth. Salt has many characteristics and our lives are to add flavor, preserve, heal and also irritate the World. As a Christian we should always be concerned about our saltiness.

Today we observe the Lord's Supper. Our message gives us a time to reflect on the meaning of this special ordinance. The Lord's Supper is a reminder, opportunity and invitation.

Jesus often found himself clashing with the religious leaders of his day. They were often so committed to the law, and were so legalistic, that they would forget the heart behind God’s instruction as a whole. There is a woman caught in the act of adultery and brought before Jesus. She had broken the law and deserved to be stoned to death. Rather than condemn and allow her to be killed, Jesus offers her Grace through a relationship rather that penalty through religion.
