In this episode, Matt Friedman, Chief Academic Officer in the Downingtown Area School District (PA), discusses his passion for creating Future Ready Schools that includes design thinking principles, enriched technology opportunities for students and a personalized approach to professional learning for faculty and staff.  Friedman also reflects on his school district's recent launch of Pennsylvania's very first Mobile Innovation Lab, a handicap accessible school bus that has been transformed into a state-of-the-art mobile STEM/STEAM lab that rolled into action during the 2018-19 school year. The Mobile Innovation Lab serves as a low cost, equitable, and innovative solution for delivering STEM/STEAM project-based learning that potentially changes the way education is delivered throughout his school district. Housed within the Mobile Innovation Lab, students will find all the tools, materials, and instructional supports necessary for hands on learning, including Wi-Fi connectivity, computers, robotics kits, and all other materials needed to ensure that all students - regardless of gender, race, ability, or income - will gain confidence in their ability to succeed in a STEM-related field.
