Today: Today is a Truck Talk Tuesday (TTT). Just you and me on a long drive sitting in the truck talking about guns and self defense.
This week is a question from a listener about know shooting standards. Should you care? I don’t?
Most shooting standard drills suck for self defense. You start training to the drill and forget what the drill is suppose to teach you. The only thing drills are good for is to see if you are improving.
You can shoot a drill and then a couple months, or after a class, shoot it again and see if you improved.
The basics I went over are:
Go listen to the episode for why these are my favorites.
Bonus… The one I think is the most fun is El Presidente. Not a really good value for self defense, but a lot of fun to set up and shoot again and again.

Today: This is Five Minute Friday (FMF), just a little quick tip on how you can think differently about your self defense in today’s modern world. Things are always changing, but we always have to remember the basics. These tips are designed to keep the perspective of basic self defense while looking at our ever changing world.
I cut my knuckle working in the yard and had to get 3 stitches on my left hand. It doesn’t work like it’s supposed to and hurts. How does that effect my self defense? In more ways then you think. You have to work even after an injury to make sure your gear and you still work like you want. And if not, change things.
I had to change a couple things because of my carry method didn’t work with the left hand not working.

Today: Last month a hotel caught fire a couple miles from where I live.
Are you prepared for that to happen when you stay at a hotel? Are you prepared to defend yourself during your stay?

Today is all about how close can people get to you? How close do you let them get to you? What’s the realistic range of things.
Be careful about how close you let people you aren’t sure about. Just another PSA.

Today: Today is a Truck Talk Tuesday (TTT). Just you and me on a long drive sitting in the truck talking about guns and self defense.
This week I added Bob Mayne to the mix because he has a unique perspective on this subject and is a great interviewer and can bring out some really good stuff in me by asking great questions.
I wanted to make this episode great and that’s why I asked him to help me out.
We all know problem #1 is surviving your self defense encounter. Problem #2 is generally considered the court battle. But really that is problem #3. You have to be able to live with yourself after the fact.
It’s not always what we did, but also what we didn’t do, or how things could have gone wrong that can really haunt us. It’s not a win if you survive your encounter, and then the court battle only to lose yourself years later by self-medication or worse. You have to be able to live with yourself and what happened.
This podcast is all about how. We broke this up in two parts. First part is here. With lots of great stuff, stories, and suggestions to help you through. Bob and I put the second part on Shooters Club for the members. If you want to hear it, you’ll need to be a member. Go sign up.

This FMF is all about noticing violence indicators around you. Do you see the violence about to happen between two people or do you just drive by with blinders on? Can you pick out the body language of someone about to do violence to another person? Can you see it coming if someone is going to use violence on you? If not, you should.

Today: Today is a Truck Talk Tuesday (TTT). Just you and me on a long drive sitting in the truck talking about guns and self defense.
On this self defense podcast we talk about the different sub sets of gun owners. What type do you fall into? I got this from Massad Ayoob’s newest book Straight Talk on Armed Defense.
He says there are four types of armed persons: The Hunter/Range Person, The Home Defense Person, The Carry a Gun When Expecting Trouble, and the person that defaults to always carrying a self defense gun.
Check out the episode and find out more…

Today: Let’s talk about the CZ Scorpion Evo and shooting it at a carbine competition. The competition is loosely based on IDPA rules and stages. It was a lot of fun.
This gun is about the closest thing you can get to a true sub machine gun legally. It folds up, so I can stick it in a backpack (the bag gun), and unfold it and shoot it like a rifle even-though legally it’s a pistol.
The more I shoot the CZ the more I like it. I think I might have to get one and turn it into my bag gun.
