Recommendations from an acupuncturist:
- Eat foods from the Warming Foods section of the Fertility Enhancing Foods document (not a huge deal if you're taking a lot of progesterone, but it's always good to keep your body warm post-transfer).
- Wear socks or house slippers around the house (don't let your feet get cold)
- Make a "Nourishing List" - this is a list of 5-10 things that you find nourishing. These can be really simple such as taking a walk, drinking a glass of water, doing mindful breathing or meditation, etc. Anytime you feel stressed, worried, angry, sad, hopeless, etc. (there's a lot of emotions that can surface during the waiting period!) set a timer for 1 minute. During that minute you get to sit there, feel your feelings, and acknowledge them. When the timer goes off you get up and do something from your nourishing list. This process acknowledges how you're feeling, but it also helps you move forward with something positive.
- Practice mindful breathing during the next week. Try the pattern of inhaling for 4 counts, hold that breath for 4 counts, exhale for 4 counts, and hold the exhale with empty lungs for 4 counts. This pattern helps reset the nervous system and immediately lowers stress levels.
- Acupuncture helps reduce stress and we recommend 1 treatment between your FET and your blood work (more than one is fine if you really need help reducing stress). Coming in anytime next week would be appropriate for this timeline. After your blood work we'll come up with a new plan and go from there!
