I consider myself very blessed to be a stay at home mom (SAHM) and if I had to do it again, I would undoubtedly make the exact same choice. However, I was a bit delusional on what it means to be a SAHM.
Both Jackson and Mickey will be in school this year and the consistent question people ask is "What Am I Going To Do?" My number one priority will always be my husband and children, but this question feels like another sign that my identity is solely based on being a mother and wife and any other identity is lost. We teach by our actions and words. It does not matter what we "instruct" our children to do if we do not model the same behavior. As none of us are perfect, we all have "whoops" moments that we teach our children some not-so-perfect things. As parents, we learn more about our own actions and words through our children. I know we have had a few "smack in the face moments" when we realize our children have learnt some of our not-so-great choices.
