Creating A Beautiful Life After Trauma - Dating As A Single Mom. When most go into motherhood, they typically don't imagine having to date again, but statistics show that 25% of U.S. households are headed by a single parent and of those, 80% are headed by a single mother. So, just how does one date not only after a failed relationship but after having a child or children? In this episode, Asha is interviewing Sierra Ortiz, mompreneur, author, and host of Sierra Unraveled Podcast on the topic of dating as a single mom.
Something that Sierra revealed in this episode was that reading self-help books has played a huge part in creating a beautiful life for her and her daughter after trauma. If you’re interested in checking out any of those books 📚 :
"The Millennial Money Makeover" by Conor Richardson
"The Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey
"The Money Saving Mom" by Crystal Paine
"Domestic Violence and Mental Health" by Louise Howard
"Change Your Mindset" by Cassandra Gaisford
"Move On, Move Up" by Paula White Girl
"Wash Your Face" by Rachel Hollis

Happy Additional THANKSgiving Day 🦃🍁 From My Family To Yours!
Did you know?
Thanksgiving is currently tied with Christmas for the most family-oriented holiday. An article written in 2017, indicates that there are approximately 46.9 million people that travel during these two holidays alone, now just think of the money that is being spent for them to do so as well as the money that the ones that aren't traveling typically will spend just to partake in the festivities. Some of them will even be spending money that they may not even have because according to society this is the "American Way," which is exactly why I decided to discontinue celebrating any of the holidays. But in this episode, I break down why it is still important to give thanks not just today but every day that we are given here.

Hair Doesn’t Make You, Or Does It? Some women choose to wear their hair short, some choose to straighten their hair, and others choose to wear their natural hair. But according to an article written in 2017, at any given time, 50 percent of black women are hiding their real hair with fake hair. Now this is not a white or black issue, this just goes back to one’s conditioning as a young girl. Sadly, most of us have been conditioned that long hair equates to what makes one beautiful. We not only receive that message from magazines and TV commercials, we also receive it from our mothers and the people that we grew up around who were also fed these same beliefs. We also touch on the following subjects:
-Not all women have the same belief when it comes to the way they wear their hair
-The hurtful things people say even your kids
-The average cost someone pays for extensions

Not only do some employers not see the benefit of offering a 401k, but many workers do not see the significance of investing in one.
Instead, they’re relying solely on the Social Security that they are due from the taxes that they have been paying over the years.
And sadly, this thinking is exactly why many people today end up working until their dying day or end up living their last days according to the terms and conditions set forth by the government. I feel this is due to the lack of understanding of what the 401k is.
In this episode, Asha explains the importance of understanding what a 401k is so that you can make the best decision for you and your family instead of blindly listening to financial advisors for that. We touch on the following subjects:
-How does a 401k work?
-How does 401k matching work?
-Break down the different options a 401k offers?
-Does every employer offer their employees a 401k? Why? Why not?
-Who is responsible for explaining the breakdown of the 401k?
