  • MOMocrats MOMochat: Preview of the Wisconsin Recalls
MOMocrats Cynematic, Karoli and Donna are in San Diego this week for the annual BlogHer conference, and will be venting their frustration with the debt ceiling deal with each other there.
While in San Diego, the MOMocrats will be planning where to take the site in 2012, and they ask their fans to take a few moments to fill out this reader survey by 3:00 PM Pacific August 3.
In the meantime, in light of the Wisconsin recall elections on August 9, we are repeating our June 29 show with EMILY's List President Stephanie Schriock, which discussed how the effort in Wisconsin came to be. There is still time to help turn out the vote by joining Team EMILY at EMILYsList.org/wisconsin.

  • MOMocrats MOMochat: Educational "Rhee"-form
Cynematic and Donna Schwartz Mills are joined by activist Sabrina Stevens Shupe to talk about this month's Save Our Schools event in Washington, D.C. and how public school parents can help turn the tide back to education policies that actually work (instead of the trend of testing/privatization, anti-teacher culture).
And of course, it would not be a MOMochat without some discussion of the successful Democratic primaries in Wisconsin and the special election in CA-36... and Rupert Murdoch's woes over the failed BSkyB bid (and what that might mean to him over here).

  • MOMocrats MOMochat: Not in Kansas Anymore
Legal expert Jessica Mason Pieklo (Care2.com) joins the panel to talk about new clinic regulations in Kansas (rolled out at the very last minute), which result in closure of all but one clinic offering abortions in the state.
Also: special guest Erin Kotecki Vest (Queen of Spain Blog), calls in from Washington before attending the Twitter Town Hall at the White House.
Plus Cynematic, Donna Schwartz Mills, Karoli and all the news that's fit to talk about in the post-July 4 holiday edition of MOMochat.

  • MOMocrats MOMochat: Preview of the Wisconsin Recalls
As the MOMocrats prepare to enjoy the 4th of July holiday with their families, EMILY's List is on the ground in Wisconsin, supporting the effort to recall six Republican legislators who supported Governor Scott Walker's union busting bill -- and five of the six are pro-choice women!
EMILY's List President Stephanie Schriock returns to MOMochat to talk about how we can all help the effort in Wisconsin.

  • MOMocrats MOMochat: What the Wal-Mart Decision Means to You
Slate's Dahlia Lithwick says this week's Supreme Court dismissal of Wal-Mart v Dukes "may be the most consequential case of the current term." MOMocrat Joanne Bamberger says the Court basically told the women of America to just "shut up and go home."
Jessica Mason Pieklo joins Donna Schwartz Mills and Cynematic to discuss and explain the decision and how it affects cases of job discrimination on the basis of gender.
Cynematic will also recap her journey to last week's Netroots Nation gathering in Minnesota.
Jessica Pieklo is a former litigator who, after nearly ten years litigating employment law, shareholder actions and fiduciary duty claims now writes and teaches for a living. Her areas of expertise include employment law, constitutional law, health law and business law. She teaches a number of law and political science courses for undergraduates and law students in the Minneapolis area and serves on the Board of Directors for Common Cause, Minnesota.

While frequent co-host Cynematic preps for her appearance at Netroots Nation, Karoli steps in with Donna Schwartz Mills to shepherd this week's lively conversation about politics (serious again, now that the media has squeezed all it can out of Anthony Weiner -- for the time being).    Julie Pippert was also on hand for a spirited discussion of Michele Bachmann, Mitt Romney, Proposition 8, Tea Party Camp and what the young folks are into these days.

  • MOMocrats MOMochat: Mothers of Intention
The MOMocrats welcome Joanne Bamberger (a.k.a. Pundit Mom), author of the new book, "Mothers of Intention: How Women and Social Media Are Revolutionizing Politics in America."

Joanne is a political and media strategist/analyst, author, and recovering attorney living in the shadow of the nation’s capital. Her book is the first to examine the rise of political motherhood online, as well as an important look at gender issues in the worlds of media politics.   A new media expert and authority on political involvement of women and mothers, Joanne was a regular contributor to AOL’s Politics Daily/Woman Up, writes frequently for The Huffington Post and MomsRising, and is an original contributor to MOMocrats.  Her political commentary has appeared on CNN, Fox News, Good Morning America, BBC Radio, NPR, Al Jazeera English & XM Radio POTUS, among others.

  • MOMocrats MOMochat
John Boehner, Mitch McConnell and the rest of the Republican congress are playing chicken on the debt ceiling...   And MOMocrats Cynematic, Donna Schwartz Mills and Karoli talk with special guest Rachel Tabachnik about the multi-state drive for public school vouchers.   Rachel is an independent writer-researcher who specializes in studying end times narratives and how they intersect or merge with anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, both historic and current. She works extensively with primary sources and has developed her own research library of media including prophecy books published over a span of more than a century. Her current work is centered on the changing eschatological narratives of Christian Zionists as the movement's center shifts from the dispensationalism of American fundamentalism into the domain of the rapidly growing Pentecostal/Charismatic stream, particularly at the international level. This includes analysis of the recent explosive growth in prophecy literature from charismatic authors who have rejected the pessimism of the pre-Tribulation Rapture to embrace a more "victorious eschatology," an end time narrative in which believers play a more aggressive role in trying to move the hand of the prophetic clock.
