This week on NEWS.MC TV, we bring you the latest from the Principality, from royal connections to world records.
History, heritage, and a brush with empire took centre stage as the Grimaldi Forum opened its much-anticipated summer exhibition, Monaco and the Napoleons: A Crossed Destiny, on July 10. Spearheaded by Louis Ducruet, the show features nearly 200 rare artefacts, artworks, and personal items, many of which are being presented in Monaco for the first time. The exhibition uncovers fascinating links between the House of Grimaldi and the legacy of Napoleon Bonaparte.
That same day, the Embassy of Monaco in Italy hosted a landmark event in Rome, celebrating 150 years of Monegasque diplomacy in Italy and 20 years of Prince Albert II’s reign. The dual occasion underscored the enduring bond between the two Mediterranean neighbours.
On the music front, the timeless setting of the Prince’s Palace courtyard echoed with classical masterpieces as the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra kicked off its beloved summer concert series under the stars. The open-air performances blend tradition, elegance, and Monaco’s singular charm.
July 11 brought fireworks of a different kind at Stade Louis II, where the 39th Herculis Diamond League saw world-class athletes smash records and deliver emotional farewells. The night marked the final edition under the stewardship of legendary director Jean-Pierre Schoebel, with nearly 16,000 fans cheering from the stands.
The focus then turned to the next generation of marine conservationists. On July 12, students from the A2M summer session, dubbed the “Reign of Prince Rainier III” cohort, received their certificates. The programme, rooted in scientific study and sustainability, drew young minds from around the globe to Monaco’s shores.
Also on July 12, the glitterati gathered at the Salle des Étoiles for the 76th Monaco Red Cross Gala. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, joined by family members Camille Gottlieb, Louis Ducruet, and Marie Chevallier, welcomed celebrity guests including Charles Leclerc for an evening of philanthropy and pageantry in support of humanitarian causes.
The following days saw Prince Albert II visit Saint-Paul-de-Vence and La Colle-sur-Loup, two newly recognised Grimaldi Historical Sites of Monaco. The visits underscored the Sovereign’s commitment to preserving the cultural links that bind Monaco to its regional past.
On July 15, the Prince was back in the Principality, attending France’s Bastille Day reception hosted by French Ambassador Jean d’Haussonville. Held on Monte-Carlo’s sun terraces, the event celebrated Franco-Monegasque friendship with dignitaries from both nations.

A new chapter in Monegasque politics begins as Christophe Mirmand is appointed Monaco’s Minister of State. The former prefect and high-ranking French official will take the oath of office on July 21 before Prince Albert II. Mirmand brings decades of administrative experience, including key posts in Corsica, Brittany, and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, and most recently served as Chief of Cabinet at France’s Ministry for Overseas Territories.
Over at Port Hercule, the 19th edition of the Longines Global Champions Tour galloped into action on July 3, drawing Monaco’s royal family and equestrian fans alike. The weekend culminated in the Prince’s Prize Grand Prix, where forty of the world’s finest riders tackled a formidable course. A French victory topped off an electric weekend of elite show jumping.
On the legal front, Monaco is sharpening its tools in the ongoing fight against money laundering. Following its inclusion on the FATF grey list in 2024, the Principality has invested in intensive training for magistrates and legal professionals. A 30-hour course concluded on July 4, reinforcing Monaco’s commitment to robust financial transparency.
Meanwhile, artificial intelligence took centre stage at the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, which wrapped up on July 5. More than 1,000 students from around the world converged to showcase sustainable marine innovations. AI-powered vessels impressed in slalom, acceleration, and endurance events, pushing the boundaries of what 100% clean energy yachts can do.
July 5 also saw the opening of a moving new exhibition in the Prince’s Palace grand apartments. Simply titled “Grace,” the exhibit offers an intimate portrayal of Princess Grace, moving beyond the Hollywood glamour to highlight her compassion, resilience, and deeply personal legacy.
Monaco shimmered in black and white at the annual Fight Aids gala on July 6, held at the iconic Sporting Hall of Stars. Themed after Jean-Jacques Goldman, the event brought together artists, philanthropists and friends of the Principality in solidarity against HIV/AIDS.
Gastronomy got its turn in the spotlight as 20 chefs were inducted at the 56th Grand Cordon d’Or Gala of French Cuisine on July 7. Hosted at Le Méridien Beach Plaza, the evening was a celebration of French culinary excellence, innovation, and tradition.
The power of art and science collided at the “Demain, l’Océan?” exhibition, which Prince Albert II inaugurated on July 8. Hosted at the Quai Antoine-Ier Exhibition Hall, the show challenges visitors to confront the threats facing our oceans through contemporary artworks that are as visually stunning as they are sobering.
Royal engagements continued the following day, as the Princely family travelled to the historic County of Carlades on July 9. Princess Gabriella — who bears the title Countess of Carlades — received a warm welcome, inaugurating several landmarks named in her honour and charming locals with grace and curiosity (and reportedly, one very lucky squirrel).
AS Monaco FC made a splash in the transfer market, unveiling Paul Pogba, Ansu Fati and Eric Dier as new signings on July 3. The trio's arrival marks a bold move by the club as it eyes success on domestic and European fronts this season.

Meanwhile, marine protection took centre stage on the sidelines of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, where Monaco joined France and Italy to launch the Pelagos Consortium. Heritage was at the heart of celebration on June 14, as the sixth edition of the Rencontre des Sites Historiques Grimaldi de Monaco transformed the Palace square into a living tapestry of regional culture, artisanal crafts, and historical ties across eight regions once linked to the Grimaldi family. Monaco also made a major step forward in cultural preservation with the inauguration of the National Archives on June 16 in Fontvieille. Opened officially by HSH Prince Albert II, the new archives and their accompanying digital portal represent a leap into the future for safeguarding the Principality’s historical legacy.
But it wasn’t all champagne and celebrations. The Roca Team suffered a major blow this week after back-to-back defeats by Paris Basketball in the French league finals. With Monaco now on the ropes, Paris are one win away from clinching a historic first title. The pressure is on.
