This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest updates from Monaco.

We begin with a focus on healthcare, as the Princess Grace Hospital Centre unveiled its newly redesigned maternity ward on April the 16th. In the presence of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène, the facility was presented as a more comforting and personalised space for families. Designed to enhance emotional wellbeing, the ward features adjustable lighting, tailored settings and a homely atmosphere aimed at reducing stress during childbirth.

Sustainability is also making waves across the region. The Port of Marseille Fos has joined the Yacht Club de Monaco’s SEA Index initiative, a programme launched in 2020 to measure and reduce the environmental impact of yachting. The move reflects growing cooperation among Mediterranean ports to tackle pollution and protect marine biodiversity.

On the international stage, Monaco continues to support youth development abroad. During an official visit to Senegal, Isabelle Berro-Amadeï highlighted initiatives helping young people build businesses through training and financial backing, reinforcing the Principality’s commitment to entrepreneurship and opportunity.

Meanwhile, Monaco took centre stage in the United States with a major tourism campaign lighting up Times Square. Promotional content for the “Visit Monaco” brand was broadcast on giant digital screens, reaching up to one million people daily and targeting a key market for the Principality.

History and heritage were celebrated as the MonacoUSA association marked the 70th anniversary of the wedding between Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly. Often dubbed the “wedding of the century,” the 1956 ceremony continues to shape Monaco’s global image.

In fashion, Monte-Carlo Fashion Week wrapped up at the Grimaldi Forum with its annual Fashion Awards, recognising creativity and sustainability. A special tribute was paid to Giorgio Armani for his enduring influence and commitment to responsible design.

Maritime innovation was in the spotlight as Monaco hosted the 4th General Assembly of the International Hydrographic Organization. Held at the Auditorium Rainier III, the event gathered global experts to discuss ocean mapping, navigation safety and new technologies shaping marine protection.

On the sporting front, the AS Monaco academy celebrated 50 years of excellence at the Stade Louis II. The event honoured its legacy of developing world-class players, including Thierry Henry and Kylian Mbappé.

Diplomatically, Prince Albert II strengthened ties with Greece during an official visit to Athens, meeting national leaders and receiving the city’s Grand Medal of Honour.

Monaco’s commitment to maritime education also continues to expand. The Monaco Academy of the Sea launched its second international training session in Tunisia, bringing together students and experts to explore the blue economy, sustainable development and maritime law.

In basketball, it was a tough night for the Roca Team, who fell 79–87 to Panathinaikos BC in Athens. Despite a strong start, Monaco struggled to maintain momentum and will now look to bounce back in their next EuroLeague fixture.

Finally, this week NEWS.MC TV is joined by Joël Girardi, founder of Accademia Fine Art. This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest headlines from across Monaco, beginning with diplomacy at the highest level. The Principality’s annual diplomatic conference brought together its ambassadors on April 9 to outline priorities for the year ahead. Led by Minister of External Relations Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, discussions focused on security, international attractiveness and the ongoing fight against financial crime.

Environmental awareness was also in focus as His Serene Highness Prince Albert II joined students from Monaco and Beausoleil for the fifth Olympian Clean Up initiative. Around fifty participants took part in the April 9 event, collecting litter — with particular attention to cigarette waste — while promoting responsibility and sustainability through Olympic values.

In the cultural sphere, Charlotte Casiraghi met readers at the Caroline Media Library, presenting her latest book La Fêlure. The literary event offered a more personal insight into her philosophical reflections on human fragility, drawing inspiration from major literary figures.

Monaco’s sporting community was celebrated at the first-ever Code Sport Monaco awards evening. Bringing together around 130 guests, the event recognised individuals who contribute behind the scenes to the Principality’s vibrant sporting life.

Sustainability and wellbeing came together at the Greenshift Festival, which concluded on April 11. Through yoga sessions, breathing workshops and sound therapy, the event highlighted the connection between personal balance and environmental engagement.

On the courts, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters once again delivered world-class tennis, with the 119th edition wrapping up on April 12. The tournament reaffirmed Monaco’s status as a key destination on the international ATP circuit, combining elite competition with a unique Riviera atmosphere.

In team sport, AS Monaco Natation made history by securing the French National 1 title after a 14–12 victory over Marseille. The triumph caps a dominant season and marks a major milestone for water polo in the Principality.

Infrastructure developments also made headlines with the inauguration of the expanded Terminal 2 at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport. Increasing capacity to 18 million passengers annually, the upgrade strengthens connectivity for Monaco and the wider region.

Healthcare innovation continues at the Princess Grace Hospital Centre, where a new mother-and-child unit has been introduced. Designed around a “zero separation” approach, the facility allows parents and newborns to remain together throughout their stay, prioritising both medical care and emotional wellbeing.

Monaco’s position as a fashion hub was underlined with the opening of its 14th Fashion Week. Featuring designers from across the globe, the event highlights innovation, sustainability and emerging talent within the industry.

On the international stage, Monaco reaffirmed its long-standing partnership with Senegal during an official visit led by Isabelle Berro-Amadeï. The trip builds on more than two decades of cooperation and aims to strengthen development initiatives aligned with Senegal’s national priorities.

Closer to home, the Principality marked each new life with its “One Birth, One Tree” initiative. A ceremony held near Casino Square celebrated the 732 births recorded in 2025, symbolised by the planting of a new tree as part of Monaco’s ongoing environmental commitment.

The same day, MonacoTech launched an ambitious new initiative aimed at driving innovation. “Test in Monaco” will allow startups to trial their solutions directly within the Principality, linking entrepreneurs with local businesses and institutions to tackle real-world challenges.
